The Brierfeet Times --- Tenthday, 19th day of the Month of Leafall
Good day everyone, This is the newly published paper from the City of Westgate, its writer myself the Bard Griggs Brierfeet.
I welcome all of you to read this with a open mind, which I know for some that could not be possible and others will handle it quite well.
My opening story is the recent attacks on Abrum Assante, The Pink Sultan of Zazesspur. It was reported that a long fingered human by the name of Spaki, A servant of Mystra, launched a attack against the Palace and the palace guards themselves. Not only murdering the guards, but destroying the interior of the palace itself. A Palace Guard speaking as a representitive of Abrum Assante said that Waterdeep has become a evil city, promoting the selling of armor and belongings to guards and public servants of other cities and establishments. Many Merchants of the city do indeed sell items that do infact hold the symbol of many diffrent cities or holdings. I was privledged enough to have a interview via mind with Spaki, Inovker, and Servant to the Goddess of Mysteries and Magic. Spaki claiming that he was sent to the Palace and after making several attempts to speak to Abrum, took it upon himself to enter the castle to find a prisoner. Upon entering the first hall he was attacked without warning, and ended the life of the guard, in self-defense. After ending the life of the first soldier, Spaki indeed did continue into the palace searching for this prisoner he was sent after in the name of Justice. Spaki did indeed say that it was neccessary to end the lives of the other guards to successfully rescue this prisoner and escape alive. After asking Spaki about the dogma of Mystra and her church, "Are Servants not supposed to think about the consequences of magic and its use?" Spaki replied "Aye we are, but at the same time in Self-defense we do not have a choice." In a day and age where Waterdeep plays host to many travelers of all sort one should take a look at who truly claims Waterdeep as their home.
Speaking to Corporal Jaenoic of Ilmater I was able to ask her of how as a Watch Member how she viewed the laws "The person who initiated th'agression be th'attacker. Howe'er, private estates be tricky matters. Then trespassing becomes involved." she also went on to say "if'n ye trespass on private property, then th'owner has right to defend his property if'n he or she views th'intruder as a threat.' So we must ask if entering a private univinted is tresspassing and if it is, that would not make for a Self-defense, for it is not only intruding but attacking and the agresser as Corporal Jaenoic put her thoughts to.
Next story to come is the story of Vezain, A hopeful of lord Tempus. I was able to interview him myself as to his knowledge on The Lord of Battle and his dogma to how he expected his followers to act. As Vezain was asked "How does the Lord of Battles view fighting and such." he stated "He sees them as a thing to gain and show your honour, and to make the fight as fair as you can and things such as that." he also went on to say "Like arming your opponent if they are not, and little things like that." After such statements were made I was able to ask Vezain, The Hopeful of Tempus "What if the fight was two against one?" Vezain stated "Well...No.That is a one sided battle and basically just killing." When killing indeed we must ask why would Vezain a Hopeful of Tempus not only defend himself against one Vlarick of Besheba without the aid of his love companion Pheobe of Waterdeep? Would a Tempurian have such a companion join in the battle to make the numbers two against one even if it would make the fight in their favor? Such a question to ask in the place of such events that have come to pass.
Last we have a intresting story on the fact of Waterdeep and their laws, As the Lawmakers continue to meet many come to wonder, Will prisoners still continue to starve without food or water for however long their stay may be? Is this what a city of "good heart" does, starve their prisoners without light to even eat the food and water they drop off. Being a true reporter I have experienced it myself for fortyeight days, No food or water able to see in the dark light. Has Waterdeep become corrupt in their ways, Will they continue to starve their lower ranks of society? And when the authority Sergeant Gwain Rambash was alerted, He required apologies and manners to just recieve a light to eat the already moldy canned water, and the spoiled bowl of gruel laying about. Such the mercy is shown to the prisoners of the Waterdeep Dungeon. Waterdeep the city of starving prisoners, and merchants that will sell items of any background no matter the moral cost.

The Brierfeet Times --- Fourthday, 13th day in the Month of the Rotting. Issue 1.2
A good day to all, today is the Fourthday, 13th day in the Month of the Rotting. And much has happened in the passing days in the Land of Faerun.
Our first story and our headline story takes us back to Ardeep and the matter concering the demons. As the days go by and by and nothing is attempted to be done about the demons and their hold on this wilderness sanctuary, it makes us wonder what are the many people of Waterdeep thinking when it has come to pass that the demons have managed to muster a army and swarm the range of peaks known as the Howling Peaks. It takes me back to almost a month ago, when I sat in the square of Waterdeep and had the pleasure to be speaking with Pheobe a local adventurer, who quoted how bored she was. I asked her, Demons were swarming the forests of Ardeep and she was bored, all that was the reply is there is nothing to be done. Nothing to be done, is all that can be said by adventurers, but when one such as Dapher, Illusionist Guild Member and Faithful follower of The Great Garl comes forward and speaks of such words his lord gave warning of such armies growing and on the move, it makes us wonder what are the true intentions of these adventurers of Waterdeep? Dapher revealed that his lord had visited him, and told him of these growing forces on the ready for battle, and that there must be a move made to stop them before they swarm and take over more places. Any more info on this matter will soon come as it is recieved.
Our next story follows the great warriors of the lands, with all the demon attacks occuring and many adventurers standing around with only boredom on their mind, where has all of the fighters that have before shown themselves to be the leaders in such battles, Algon of Tempus to be counted among these. In recent notings there was a Lawmakers meeting, in which Algon is a member of. Absent was Algon from such a meeting and his sightings have not been made by neither the other members or his wife, Shabanna of Tymora. As the times go by will anymore of our heroic leaders disappear, if so, who will lead such a front against the demonic presence that grows ever so much as time goes by.
Next we have the story of the up and coming Celebration of The Sea Queen, Umberlee. Taking place in the vast port city of Westgate this celebration has many in anticipation. I will be in attendance to spectate and report of the great events and celebration to happen, which I will report in my next paper to come.
Our ending story leads many minds to great mystery, In the City of Waterdeep a mural has appeared in the coloring of red. Depicting a half-elven with waist length hair wielding a flaming sword and a shield with a mark of Faerdale. As much is to be learned of what this mural means, and who created such a work. Only time will tell as to where the gods will lead us with this information, and who this mural depicts. Any leads on this mural are welcome and greatly encouraged.
This is Griggs Brierfeet ending by saying Let knowledge be found in the darkest spots, and let it flourish in the brightest of places.

Brierfeet Times --- Firstday, 20th day in the Month of the Drawing Down. Issue 1.3
Greetings people of Faerun, Today is the Firstday, of the 20th day in the Month of the Drawing Down and as always much has happened over the time. And the Brierfeet Times is where it is at.
Our top story of this paper is of the Warden of the Rangers, Janon. Recently in a encounter with the Warden Janon at a Temple I was investigating, he proceeded to attack me, under many words saying that I was a Servant of Loss, or even that of the Shadowlord. Even after a long protest of my service, I was assaulted by the wardens crossbow's bolt. Suddenly as it was shown my truth I was cured by the Binder. Though this did not stop the attacks, the Ranger still intended to assault me, continuing to show no respect to Oghma's greatness nor a mind to listen to any words. If any do not know Janon is the Warden of Rangers making him in a high position of leadership over the now taken over by demons, Ardeep.
Our next story is to make a correction on any lies or deceit that has gone about, A man by the name of Stalor, Fighter of the Great Lord Tempus, has been proclaiming his ever innocence of being good of heart, but by covering his lies as such, This man be that of the Zhentil Keeps Fighters guild no matter his profess to not be. By using these lies as a shield to gather information and resources he has made himself not only a threat to any that may trust him, he has made a threat to the lives of Vezain of Tempus, and Pheobe the Adventurer.
Up now is my continuing report of what events are pressing with the plague of demons, Just recently a band of what are now being called "rogue demons" haunted the Trade Way to Waterdeep. During this duration of time there was many murderings of merchants and travelers, as quickly as word was put out about the demons a Band of Heroes were dispatched from the gates of the Deep to rid the problem. As the demons were killed, the corpses along the Trade Way came to life, a hoarde of undead walking the roads unchecked, but then A Lamia Priestess came forth from the darkness wielding the prayers to her God or Goddess. As the Priestess was detained and questioning begun information was gathered. It seems that there is more to the demons than thought. A word to warn all those, in traveling to Waterdeep do beware of demons, at your own risk.
Waterdeep recieved a great visitor this day, The HolyCoin of Waukeen, The Merchant's Friend. A special meeting was called to brief of some of the recent events. The HolyCoin in his meeting seemed concerned telling those gathered about the coming of some wizards to Zazesspur, Questioning the Pink Sultan's motives on his rulings over his city. He informed the group of these visitors as well as his plans to visit Candlekeep for a search on some information.
Our last story to report is of the Celebration held in the City of Westgate, The First Tide celebration was held amongst the city and many of The Sea Queens faithful were in attendance, The Priestess and The Wavelord spoke of the great celebration was a success. The Celebration went on through the night, sailors and pirates a like yelling drunkard songs through the night.

Brierfeet Times --- Tenthday, 9th day in the Month of Deepwinter Issue 1.4
Good Day Citizens of the Realms, This is a special edition of the Brierfeet Times. In light of past times, that correspond with the recent events involving the demonic presence.
Stumbling upon personal records of a Priestess of the Demon Prince, Graz'zt, recording her personal attempts at making rumors to turn the realms against the very adventurers that have sworn to protect it. It is through this Priestess that Graz'zt has hopes of building an army to launch against the kingdoms of Faerun.
Algon of Tempus, known also as the Red Fighter, was accused of slaying a person and looting the corpse for personal reason of greed. When indeed the Priestess recorded that Algon indeed did not in fact murder the person, but was trying to safeguard the belongings if the person was to ever return. This lady did in fact try and spread the rumors to put up a false notion and deception that Algon was of one ill intention.
Next in the records was the recordings of The Priestess sending a demon to pose and give the deception of a female gnome to the City of Berdusk. The Demon's mission was to pose as the gnome was conducting and completed a summoning of demons. Altough no knowledge on the identity of the gnome he was trying to pose as is known, but it need not be known for it was no gnome, but in fact a demon shapechanged into the gnome's identity.
Further readings along the journals expose the Priestess' will to assasinate one Priest of Llira known as Jadom, With the writings of the Priestess we have come to know that Graz'zt wishes to keep the followers of Llira and Waukeen at bay, and wishing no aid to come to them for personal reasons unknown at this time. They have shown not only the intentions of hiring assassins to murder priests but at the same time hiring bands of trolls to join in league with their forces.
The Priestess further uncovered the incident involving the woman named as Mariela, And where she had encounters with the devilkin known as Blue and Red. It was indeed that this situation was intended to retrieve Mariela as a sacrifice to the Dark Prince, Graz'zt. As the attack on the city by the lesser demons known as dretchs was only a diversion to keep us from viewing the real intents of this Priestess and her colleges.
The Priestess has revealed through her writings of the events that was built-up to the capture of Ardeep, The sacrifices and the ceremony made to call upon the demons that were called upon the forest of Ardeep. Getting this information from the Arcane, of the Old School they were able to obtain this knowledge used. It is through this that the Priestess will gather a stronger army and launch it against our kingdoms. No city will be safe from the wrath that the Demon Prince and his followers wish upon the kingdoms and their people.
Any further information on this matter will be revealed. No secrets lies or deception will be laid, All knowledge will be shared in praise to the Great Binder.

Brierfeet Times ---- Firstday, 30th day in the Month of Deepwinter 1.5
Greetings, this is the fifth edition of the Brierfeet times.
Recent times have revealed a plot to capture the mace demonsbane, With the Demonsbane in the hands of Maybel, Priestess of Lord Tyr, Vlarick the Fighter made the attempt to capture Demonsbane with the knowledge revealed to him by myself. After being asked where the mace was Maybel of Tyr acknowledged handing Demonsbane off to Rennick, a ranger of the forest. After this Vlarick made the move to see for himself striking at Maybel, with the aid of a song of silence from myself. Demonsbane was indeed on the Priestess, despite what previous words were said.It was not long after that Miriel the Mage of Mielliki then appeared striking with magic she had memorized. It was then when Vlarick murdered Maybel and Miriel, with what aid I could give him. Vlarick and myself fled from the scene of the chaos only to find ourselves brought back by the great power of Lord Justice himself. Vlarick and Myself stood before Lord Tyr for the crime against his Priestess. Although my fate was not as bad as Vlarick's, I count myself worse off for I must serve my lord by bringing this knowledge to view. Where the mace is now, Only the gods themselves know and the carrier of Demonsbane.
Our next story is that of another such discovery, Of more attackers identities on the palace of Abrum Assante. One previous said Miriel Mage of Mielliki has been identified as a attacker of the Pink Sultans palace. As printed previously Miriel joins alongside Spaki of Mystra on the assaults on the Pink Sultan. An envoy of the Pink Sultan has stated that he has made a vow to seek revenge on any that attack his palace, and indeed his past shows the Pink Sultan is capable of eternal horrors.
Last on our stories is of Waterdeep, It seems the great City of Spelendors has added a new addition to their city. To add stocks north of their square the city has shown the continual support against any crime that would come to Waterdeep, and if it comes it will be dealt with by form of public scrutiny. All that enter the city, do beware for I am sure this punishment will be used for all manners of criminals that dare go against the Law written forth by the Council.

A rebuttal to the last Brierfeet Times, posted by Miriel.
THE PLACE FOR TRUTH
I, Miriel Tingilinde, feel bound to let the Realms know what truly happened, on the day in which Griggs Brierfeet and Vlarick of Beshaba, attacked Maybel of Tyr, on the Skulbask Road. I was not party to what occurred before such an attack, but I was present, when I sensed something wrong and teleported with much haste to where Maybel lay, stunned and silenced, on the ground.
Griggs Brierfeet, our trusty reporter for the Brierfeet Times (incidentally, exiled from Waterdeep), was in the process of trying to steal an item that Maybel carried. Contrary to what the report by Griggs implied, I did not appear and immediately begin attacking. Keen to protect Maybel and her possession, I called out a warning, asking for Vlarick, who had managed to take an item from Maybel, to stop.
This warning went unheeded, and so I had to act, by using my magic in an attempt to strike him down. This I freely acknowledge, though I understand that what I did was in no way contravening to any law of the land, as I was acting to prevent an act of banditry of the most heinous sort. Not content to try to steal the items carried by Maybel, Griggs then proceeded to dispel my magics, leaving me defenceless against the onslaught of the Beshaban.
Yet just when we thought justice would not come to these two base, common bandits, both Maybel and I were brought back into the world of the living, through the power of the Lord Tyr. Vlarick was sent to the realms of death by Justice, and Griggs was sent packing with a reprimand.
Griggs may try to distance himself from the title of bandit, but as I am not bound by the neutrality of journalism that Griggs apparently so prizes (though he does it poorly, I believe, by spreading incomplete information with the intent of deceiving), I have the opportunity to say this: aiding and abetting a bandit attack is as bad as committing the act of banditry; trying to steal an item from a defenceless woman proves his status as a bandit; and adding his magic to a battle against someone who arrives to defend one who is defenceless, is also banditry.
I call upon those of the Maiden’s faith, and those of any who hold truck with our Church, to give this halfling no aid whatsoever. I must speak with my Forestarm and ask if there is to be any further action taken against this halfling. Until then, I ask with whatever authority I have, that none aid this halfling, no matter what half-truths he utters under the name of his Lord Oghma, who it is known despises deceit.
On the other issue brought to light by the Brierfeet Times, I note that Griggs Brierfeet has included barely anything of what I mentioned when he spoke to me. Perhaps this is the place now, for me to reveal just how Griggs never shows the full story, but a slanted, twisted view… what he wants others to see, and not what truly happened.
I admit that I have entered the palace of Abrum Assante, and indeed that I assaulted the guards there. When I could, I left the guards stunned so as not to propitiate greater loss of life. Yet I freely acknowledge that I hold not an ounce of remorse for this deed. The Pink Sultan, as he is known, had an elven captive deep within his palace. I would risk much, even my own standing in today’s times, to rescue one of my kin from captivity by such a man.
He also keeps other slaves within his palace, which I felt bound to aid, also. And yes, I admit also freely, that I attacked the Pink Sultan himself, leaving him, as I believed, for dead. His hands had been directing much evil against the forests, such as that of nearby Forest Tethir. I am bound to protect the forest and so I see in my actions no conflict within my soul. If the Pink Sultan seeks revenge, then perhaps the elves of Faerun might also be permitted to seek vengeance, for his crimes perpetrated against them?
No issue is black and white, and certainly not as clear-cut as Griggs would have it. This is why I believe a newspaper must be written by someone completely neutral, and not by someone who has himself been involved in the incidents reported.
For those of the Realms: let the truth be known, about the incident of banditry and also about my actions against the Pink Sultan. I have nothing to be ashamed of in either instance, for I know that many others would have acted in the same way.
I also swear that if ever I see Griggs reporting another half-truth or twisting falsehood, I shall post a rebuttal for each deceit he publishes.

Brierfeet Times --- Eightday, 17th day in the Month of the Sunsets. 2.0
Greetings to everyone, This is the start of the second volume of the Brierfeet Times. I would like to start off refusing all statements declaring me a Crycist or a Follower of Shar, and I would refute all statements.
In all of the chaos and destruction, The Demons that have came from the abyss still remain in Ardeep still ravaging and killing many travelers that come about. The Arcane, came from the location of the Old School of Wonder to speak with a group of adventurers on the exact procedure needed to rid these demons from this plane. But in the midst of the discussion, The Warden Janon, gave comments and actions that brought much disappointment to the Arcane. Shortly after the Arcane left and did not give any other words towards the group. The Warden Janon one of the many people fighting to free the forest leads the guild of rangers, belonging to this guild is a member known as Paskry of Corellon. Paskry was approached by a younger ranger, seeking a more senior ranger for help, was denied by Paskry. Paskry took this time allowed to help the younger ranger to go and spar with Harroghty of Torm.
In light of the recent talks of the Express Magic Deliveries, A new service has come to be. Ran by a younger conjurer, he has titled his new found business "Dark Wings Deliveries". With the opening of this new delivery service, many people of the kingdoms have more options on ways to send their messages or items. More information soon to come about this up and coming business, with prices and such. I will keep the kingdoms up to date of this great story in the making!
As law comes about in the realms many are coming forth to defend any that are accused of the crimes they may of committed by the law. One Faustus Dinnertime, comes forth bringing a chance for those who need a defense in trial to have one.
Faustus Dinnertime, Attorney of Law and criminal representative,
Contracts made on demand and representation available.
Prices negotiable on meeting. Seek our offices in Westgate.
We will fight for your right to a fair defense.
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS
(This advertisement was paid for and written by Faustus Dinnertime, Attorney of Law.)
Body found decaying on its own:
Recently found along the wilderness roads was a corpse of a male human, with various tattoos on it, one of which reads "CHAMPION" and the other "Clairvoyant Disease", the man being of a rather large size was found and his belongings are being stored. If you are the owner of all these belongings and wish them back please contact myself, Griggs Brierfeet and I will arrange for you to meet with the storage representative.
Editoral of The Brierfeet Times:
Its wasn't until recently that I have decided to start a editorial page in my paper, I believe that along with the news many should be given a chance to hear my thoughts. With the recent war mongering of the demons flooding into the realms we look to the rangers to gain back this forest that was lost. One by the name of Janon, Warden of The Rangers Guild, and as Warden he leads this guild known for its purpose to protect the forces from any that oppose it. We must truly ask ourselves 'If the leader of the Ranger Guild is incapable of doing what is necessary to bring peace and order back to his forest, Then why is he still the leader?' By showing a disrespect to one known as the Arcane, a entity with the knowledge to help this Warden, He is showing that he will not go the distance nor put aside some petty hatred to free the forest of the demon's hold. Along with the insulting we must also take note of the Warden's Guild Members, If his members such as Paskry will not even help each other, this shows a poor structure of the Rangers Guild, and with a poor leader, surely we cannot be surprised by the actions of the guild members. A call to action may need to be made, One to organize the Rangers Guild once more, and take out the demons presence in the great and beloved Ardeep.
This is Griggs Brierfeet ending this issue saying "May Knowledge always be in your path.

Brierfeet Times --- Eightday, 17th day in the Month of the Storms. 2.1
Greetings Citizens of the Realms, Today is the Eightday, 17th day in the Month of Storms.
Much have taken place since my last paper, and in this paper all will be reaccounted for, by the words of yours truely Griggs Brierfeet.
First and foremost our leading story is on the Knowledgable Church of Knowledge.
The Church of Knowledge stripped one of their members recently for lack of the same views, High Priest Kladian was declared a biased individual against those of a diffrent heart than what he saw fit, along with the witness of Laerytha of Oghma, who is of which is to be a one of the many defenders to be available to those accused of crimes in Waterdeep. After hearing such truthful words being declared, Laerytha declared herself not available to defend such a person. It was at that moment, That Oghma himself came from the heavens in all of his glory and struck down the once follower. Telling this follower that he has done his Church wrong he used his all wonderous power to turn this once follower of truth and knowledge into a beast to crawl the earth.
It was then in the moment that Oghma, The Binder, God of Knowledge showed his, and his church's true form. A true form of biased ways, What is a Church of Neutrality? We ask ourselves this and then answer it is a church that caters to both those of good and evil heart. Is this what the Church of Knowledge does? I would hardly see that as such, what are the high positions filled with within the Church of Knowledge?
Why their beloved High Priest Kladian shows it truely, a good heart and a biased mind. This is what Oghma has chosen as his leader, a good hearted biased individual that gives knowledge to only those that Oghma deems worthy. It was in a story I heard recently A Priestess of a Esteemed Church, sought knowledge to handle a problem and recieved the reply, you have not researched enough, go research more.
What a example of knowledge there, A High Priest that did not offer himself as assistance to research this, but a sharp tone of rejection followed by a insult of lack of knowledge. But let us not stop there, Let us speak of the soon to be defender of those put on trial in Waterdeep, Laerytha, All ask themselves, is this who you want defending you one of biased ways...one that will turn you away the moment things go ill, so much for a lack of passion, you are better off having a stone pebble from the stream defend you...
It is here where you will gather the knowledge you seek, individuals such as Faustaus, a defender hailing from Westgate, esteemed and worthy of defending you, that care as to your outcome.
Going along to our next story, a update to the situation in Ardeep.
The situation grows dire in Ardeep as it appears no leader has stepped forth to bring about a peaceful outcome to this horrible beginning. Many have come to ask, What of the Warden? Why has he not stepped forth to lead the many people that care so much against the forces that plague the forest?
The Warden Janon, has gone into a deep seclusion not truely caring as to the outcome, after driving off the one known as the Arcane, and perhaps bringing down all morale that stood against the demon infestation that haunts the beloved and once beautiful Ardeep. Now we must ask any help to come, for our leaders of the forests and the cities have done nothing more than sit within their cottage or upon their great thrones, it is here that great heroes are born.
By the hand of Khara, spoken the words of Griggs Brierfeet, Bard of Greatness.

A pamphlet signed "Lerytha".
[quote]Lerytha Holt, scholar and barrister loyal to Oghma, feels she must take action against this libellous writing. Out of a consideration for the lack of formalised writings on how to prosecute in civil proceedings, she has decided not to sue the writer responsible for the lies and defamation of character of people within the paper. Nonetheless, she has decided to track through this turgid mass of lies, pointing out what is factually inaccurate.
(addendum to the article, written by a scribe from the Font of Knowledge)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Church of Knowledge stripped one of their members recently for lack of the same views.
I would like to point out that this very first line is wrong for many reasons. The Church of Knowledge stripped Griggs'holy symbol from him, for the crime of showing disrespect to the chosen voice of his faith. Disagreement and polite discourse has always been favoured in the Church of Oghma, for from discourse flows ideas, and from ideas comes all that is loved by the Binder. Yet for all that, a High Priest of any faith is worthy of respect and the author of the Brierfeet showed Kladian Sandail less respect than one would show to a worm underfoot.
After hearing such truthful words being declared, Lerytha declared herself not available to defend such a person.
I would like to point out that I defend those that I feel are innocent. I am not a barrister who seeks to help guilty individuals escape justice. Whilst I thought for a moment that Griggs, once a brother of my faith, could be innocent and was worthy of representation, I was willing to serve him as barrister. When he insulted the Lorekeeper however, I felt that he had shown no respect to me or even his own faith, and so had to withdraw my offer of representation. In the interests of legal fairness, I will however co-ordinate with Griggs's next barrister, giving that person the documents I have gathered.
It was at that moment, That Oghma himself came from the heavens in all of his glory and struck down the once follower. Telling this follower that he has done his Church wrong he used his all wondrous power to turn this once follower of truth and knowledge into a beast to crawl the earth.
The reporter for the Brierfeet Times forgot to point out that before he was transformed into a beast to crawl the earth

Brierfeet Times Firstday, 20th day in the Month of the Drawing Down. 2.2
Greetings Citizens of the Realms, it is the Firstday, 20th day in the Month of the Drawing Down.
Much has passed within the days of the last issue to grace the realms. But before we get into the stories I would like to invite any hopeful bards or scribes to submit entries for future publications of the Brierfeet Times. If you think yourself an intresting writer with a flare for the news. Or if you believe a report should be done a certain way please leave you submissions with the publications of Westgate.
And now we come to our first story is a story coming from a small fishing village in the southern parts of the realms, right off the Coast Way. Reports say that the village was razed to the ground by four individuals. It seems that the whole village had no survivors only burnt homes, and blood streaked paths. The village did have one home that stood among the wreckage, but inside was a brutal scene of blood scattered and a woman with the symbols of three jagged bolt like shapes etched into her forehead. Also a bolt like shape was painted on the north, east and west walls with a blood like substance. Clearly this deed was done by the act of followers of the Church of Talos reasons why have yet to be known, but it does indeed put fear into many villages out there, that even they are not in the clearing of the storm.
Second story comes at a interesting time, In this day and age when evil runs rampant, and demons plague the forests we look to our great heroes for salvation. The group known as the Harpers have ever defended the realms from plagues of evil. But we ask our self, are they truly defending us from evil, or are they just diverting our attention away from a hidden evil. Member of the Harpers, Alyzin Fortuneblade who is also a member of the Church of Luck, was seen looting from corpses of the realms, and also has been accused of stealing from a certain faith of Nature. We must look at this event with a clear mind, Are the Harpers truly as good as they say for allowing such a bandit in their ranks? And then we look to the Church of Luck, A neutral Church in itself, but we must remember when referring to neutral neither good nor evil has a Priestess declaring these deeds as in moral and that actions will be taken to see if punishment is needed. Perhaps the Church of Luck is like another Church that preaches the realms, a certain Church of Knowledge.
Our next story is to continue further investigation on the Church of Oghma, That of Knowledge. I myself have done quite an extensive investigation and have come to discover this once great Church has fallen into quite a grave time. Newest Priestess of Knowledge Daediana was involved in a series of events recently, allowing a poor innocent girl to be taken into slavery for her own freedom. A selfish act indeed, but then we must ask the Church of Knowledge shows more and more that it is not the realms they wish to serve, but themselves. In recent findings the Priestess has in fact done quite a duty to her church in not only providing knowledge, but providing deception in the facade of love. The Priestess has given the illusion and game of love to more than one person. With the Lorekeeper recently falling ill, is this where the Church of Knowledge is heading down a road of illusions and deceit? It wasn't till recently I discovered that Daediana was taken capture, but was this to her own will to escape the deception she had already put into place? In further information on this Church and its members shall be shared.
In our last and ending story we go to the streets of Waterdeep, The City of Splendors. It is in this glorious city not far from the Forest of Ardeep, which is still plagued by demons, we find that moral is low and in need of great rising. The Church of Llira, The Joybringer, has always taken it upon themselves to cause joy and celebration to the realms. A young priestess, who we later found out by the name of Alize serves within this glorious city, but how well is she truly serving her Lady? Recent reports have come in that the Priestess was seen not smiling, but showing sorrow and frowning not but a few yards outside the city's marketplace. We must ask ourselves if the Joybringers themselves are not happy, how are they to even serve their lady by making others happy? Is this a grave time when not even joy can be spread?
