A Eulogy for Kladian Sandail, Lorekeeper of Oghma, High Priest of the Binder
I was present at the bedside of Kladian Sandail, husband of Lunette and brother of Tandria, when he drew his last breath with us and left this plane for that of his Lord. Kladian slipped away quietly, his breath slowing to a gradual end, and we've reason to hope he did not suffer greatly, despite the fever that afflicted him - thanks to the care of the Priests of Oghma and Selune, tending to him.
As Aran Addenson, Knight of Torm, so rightly put it, "Sad as it may be, we shall not mourn the passing of such a faithful man. He goes Home."
Kladian was a paragon of all the Binder stands for, and a guide to many, as he was to myself. His wisdom was deep, and readily shared with all willing to listen and struggle with the complexities of the truth. I know that he served as an exemplar of the Loremaster's calling to me, and set me on a path of learning, as he did many others. May his example live on through each of us.
I mourn only for those Kladian leaves behind, most acutely Lunette and Tandria, for I know what it is to lose a beloved family member. There is no pain more searing, no wound slower to heal, and no loss less readily accepted or consoled. But try we must, as Kelemvor teaches us - never forget, but do not mourn, for death is not to be feared, lest such fear control us and keep us from doing right. Death comes to all in the fullness of time.
I ask ye all offer what strength and resolve ye might to Lunette and Tandria in this difficult time, and so too those close to the Lorekeeper, particularly those within the Binder's church, that they may find their strides again, and live on with purpose and resolve, as Kladian would wish of them.
In memoriam,
Raona Corbin of Tyr
