I was wondering why the Bard class is limited to the races it is? I believe it should be limited..... But only to things to farfetched. And just to prove my point here is a little snip from my favorite book the FR campaign setting.
Preferred Character Regions: Bards are common in many lands, including Amn, Chessenta, Cormyr, the Dalelands, the Dragons Coast, Evermeet, Luiren(92% halfling), Impiltur, the Moonshaes, Silverymoon, Tethyr, Thesk, Unther, the Vast, Waterdeep, and the Western Heartlands. Gold dwarves, moon elves, sun elves, lightfoot halflings and strongheart halflings are also common.
Bard race restrictions?
Class/race restrictions exist for all races save human and half elf and I have always agreed with that, for one thing it keeps humans the primary race, which they should be.
As one of the exceptions to the rule I would be very disappointed if bards were suddenly opened to other races. I spent nearly three RL years RPing to become a bard, it would cheapen the work I put in to getting where I am today.
Of course, if someone is willing to put in two years plus of RP in to it, I would be more than happy to see it happen.
