How to use this forum?

This forum is for all (imms and players both) to announce events or roleplays they plan to set up on Forgotten Kingdoms.

Make sure you mention the date and time! Since we have players from all over the world, a good solution is to express the date and time of your event with a link to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedform.html.

Code of conduct for the events

Setting up an event is worthy of respect. It takes initiative, imagination, organizational efforts, and it adds much to the mud. I am very glad to see that more and more people are posting in here and setting up events to gather characters and players, especially amongst the less played groups (e.g., orcs, Ilmaterites, ... when are the drow going to put their money [or rather time] where their mouth is and set up an event to show that drow still live on the mud?).

Yet, some of the posts I have recently read incite me to post the following pieces of advice, that I emphatically called "code of conduct". While those who organize the roleplays are worthy of respect, the respect should go both way, and the organizers should also not do whatever they want without taking the other players into consideration.

1. If someone makes the effort to set up an event, you too can make some effort to try and attend it (if your character attending the event makes sense). Obviously, if you have valid reasons not to be online at that time, it's nice to post to say that you cannot make it. If you just do not feel like being there, simply do not post anything.

What is NOT fair though is presenting what I would call a weak excuse to not come and convey - voluntarily or involuntarily - the idea that the time should be changed. Examples: "I can't make it, because I have my favourite TV show at that time." or "I can't make it because that would make me wake up 1 hour earlier than usual!". I can't remember how many times exactly I remained awake up to 5, 6, or 7 am for a roleplay, so allow me to have a bitter taste in my mouth when I read something like this.

2. Many of our players have responsibilities outside of the game, a family, a work, and so on. When you state a date and time, don't change it one day before the event starts. Some players might have to make arrangements to be free at the set date and time, including delicate negotiations with their spouses/parents/bosses/... and by changing the time and date you are actually telling them that all their efforts were useless.

Feel free to start a thread in the Discussion channel if you want to comment or discuss those things. Don't take my examples above as personal attacks. Seeing those things being done irked me, but I have nothing against those who did them.
