Greater Recall

I suggest adding a greater recall spell, which can be cast to take not only the caster, but one other person, to the casters recall place. So lets say that a wizard is from Skullport, and he casts greater recall to take himself plus one other to skullport.

Spells are available in game already which allow priests and wizards to transport large groups.

In addition a recall spell, by definition, is not blocked by the noastral flag of a room. The ability to take someone to a place such as Skullport or Silverymoon and bypass the wards and/or ignore the numerous quests required to get there is not something I would support.

I hadn't thought of it that way, though the silverymoon thing a=especially makes a lot of sense. Well, with the game down, all I can do is try to come up with new ideas, hehe.

Here's a new idea for a Greater recall point.

Alright, lets say that you are in Summerfield, as an example, and are heading to a certain quest in the northwest direction, but your priest is from Silverymoon, and you don't want to return there after the quest. So you cast 'greater recall' which sets a flag or whatever in the room you are standing in at the time you cast it. So that the next time you cast 'word of recall' you return not to your town of origin, but to the temporary recall point set up with Greater Recall. This way, it only affects the one person, and that person has to have been standing in that room at some point to cast it. And then, after you do recall, the next time you recall you are back to your starting point.

So set up a temporary recall point. We do have many spells to go to a desired point.

Yes, but many if those transportation spells come with catches, like they only work under certain circumstances, such as going to where a certain person it, or else the weather has to be just right, or the other person can't be in certain places. The purpose I have behind this spell is, lets say you are a priest, and go into the caves beneath Holyhead with a small party, and lo and behold, your party has to take off, and you are left to fend for yourself. Well, you can cast word of recall, it's true, but what if you don't want to leave Holyhead completely? Well, with this idea, you could set up a temporary recall point just outside the caves, or in Holyhead, and you can hunt drow, or heal up, or wait for another party to come to your aide, or just heal up in general.

Isn't that a gate spell? Or shadow walk?

There was talk sometime ago about initiating a portal system simmiliare to that featured in the Forgotten Realms world. Where there are portals throughout the world that can transfer one that walked through them to another location depending on the portal. I like the concept of that more than a greater recall. When you look at the aspects of recall itself it appears as a very personal spell that recalls or sends the caster back to the point of origin instantly. It is more of an escape or sigh of return. Other potential spells like astral walk, chariot of the sun or shadowwalk are a directed spell of travel though, taking more focus but rewarding none the less for travel. What I would like though and I think it would be useful for groups is recall to be brewable again, though it stands to reason if it is too high a level spell to be brewed or should be brewable.

I can see only one real way to make a greater recall work: it effects everyone the caster is grouped with, and sends them to their recall points, not the casters. That avoids the mess of people being recalled to places they shouldn't have access to, but allows for something of a group escape spell that is far more limited then a teleport spell.

Aegir, your combining my two ideas. The second one was different, I just put it here because it was another idea that worked off of the recall spell.

Idea one was refused, and with good reason, because it involved sending someone else to your recall point. As was said, recall bepasses certain restrictions, so that wasn't feasible.

My second, and separate idea, was to create another spell, not necessarily called greater Recall, just used to create a temporary recall point. Anyway, if it is refused, that's fine, but I just don't want the ideas misunderstood.
