I was looking over the weapon skills for rogues and thought that while, some weapons under catigories would not be viable for a rogue. Some would be. Even with the abilty to 'feat' in a new weapon some rogues would be able to use weapons do to agility and ease.


Examples:

Chains - Nunchaku. This is a dexterious baised weapon. A cleric or warrior in full plate.. or even chain mail would have trouble wielding this effectivly.
A rogue wouldnt not though be swinging a flail arround so much or a morning star.

Double-edged weapons: Sai's, long swords, and bastard swords are all able to be used by rogues. While a gnome rogue wont use a long sword, a classy rogue might use it to fit in with his surroundings. As for a bastard sword, this is a single and double handed weapon. A rogue, just because he can, dosent dual wield all the time. That extra need for brute strength comes in handy when you need to be an enforcer or thug.

Polearms: Baiscly for spear use. Many a rogue characters might want to use the agility and length of a spear to offset a warriors strength.

Short-axes: I just like the thought of Kama's bing introduced, and them being verry much like this (I know, they are different, but then its the way they weapon looks )

Whips: Indiana Jones? While a NG rogue.. He is a clasic example of why rogues could learn whips eaisly.

The weapon list for rogues is based on the closest approximation to the D20 weapon proficiency list for rogues we could manage. Other weapons, just like in D&D can be bought with weapon proficiency at the cost of 1 feat point.

I understood that. I was just pointint out that other weapons out there are ones used by rogues as well. The way the game stands now, If your a fighter you wear Heavy plate, If your a Priest, you wear heavy plate, If your a ranger/druid you wear medium leather. Rogues take light armors. YOu do that because its whats going to keep you alive the longest. I dont know many fighters out there who dont wear heavy plate if they can find it. Nor priests.

By adding these weapons, we might create a more easily obtained diversity.

I'm still not following your point too well, I guess, or maybe I missed it. I do know of fighters that don't wear heavy plate, for that matter rogues that don't wear any armor at all. The point is, they are given the *ability* to wear such because the D&D base that these classes are built upon give them the proficiencies, you can make yourself diverse by wearing less, or wielding lesser weapons, or, if you want to reach above and beyond what you would normally be able to wield/wear/etc as a particular class, then you can spend feat points for armor proficiency or weapon proficiency with those you would ordinarily have no proficiency in.

The weapons you listed above, are NOT standard rogue weapons, per D20 D&D standards.

If what you're asking is for those weapons to be added to the standard weapon proficiencies for rogues, the trend for FK is moving *more* to D20 D&D standards, not further away from them.

So, if you want to use nunchaku, whips, etc as a rogue, spend your feat point, just like you would in tabletop.
