Prestige Classes

Last I heard, this was put off on FK, was it completely ruled out? If so, then perhaps you could add a few guilds, such as for a Master of Radiance. Master of Shrouds, Dirgesinger, Pale Master, Sacred Purifier, and True Necromancer.

Here is information on just one possibility for the guild, you can alter it in whatever way you like if you choose to add it, and if not, oh well. If so, then I can offer info on the others. Such as the Dirgesinger, a bard that has developed an afinity for the dead, necromantic powers and everything. You'd want to limit there powers of course, but I'd like to see more guilds with more effects in the game.

Master of Radiance Requirements
Any nonevil priest/druid (occasional paladin)
Priest Domains (Either plant or sun -this applies to all deities with one of these domains, not just the ones programed with this domain)
Able to cast daylight as a divine spell (You might add the daylight spell just for this guild. Favored priests/druids Lathander, Chauntea, and Mielikki)

Guild features
6 ranks
Deacan - Radiant aura 1/day, 1 extra turn undead
Teacher - Searing light
Priest - Radiant aura 2/day
Bishop - Another extra turn undead
Prophet - Beam of Sunlight and Radiant aura 3/day
Guild Master -radiant aura 4/day

Copied from Libris Mortis The Book of Undead
Radiant aura - This would be an ability. A Master of Radiance can emanate an aura of brilliant light that weakens undead creates. The aura provides bright illumination in a 30-foot radius around the character, and shadowy illumination for an additional 30 feet beyond that. Creatures that take penalties in bright light also take them while within the radius of the bright aura. In addition, undead creatures within the radius of bright light take a -2 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws.
Activating Radiant aura is a free action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. While her radiant aura is active, a master of radiance casts spellswith the light descriptor at +2 caster level
A master of radiance can use this ability once per day at 1st level, twice per day at 3rd level, and three times per day at 5th level. Each use lasts 1 minute.
The radiant aura is the equivelent of a 5th level spell with the light descriptor for the purpose of interacting with spells and effects with the darkness descriptor.

Searing Light (sp) Beginning at the 2nd level (rank), a master of radiance as a standard action once per round as long as her aura is active. Treat the characters casting level for this effect as equal to her divine caster level plus the +2 caster adjustment for the radiant aura.

Beam of sunlight (sp) A 5th-level master of radiance can evoke a dazzling beam of intense light (the equivalent of a beam from the sunbeam spell) once per round as a full-round action as long as her radiant aura is active. Treat the characters casting level for this effect as equal to her divine caster level plus the +2 caster adjustment for the radiant aura.

I was thinking about it. Is this the sort of thing I should apply for in an e-mail?

Prestige classes were put on hold over a year ago. As it goes it was decided that they are somewhat innapropriate for fk. There may be implementation of them in the future but as of now there are no plans that are set.

What about prestige classes in the form of a guild, like I recommended above? In the case of these guilds they must be faithed first and meet certain requirements? I have a Priestess of Lathander that wouldn't mind role-playing out creating the Master of Radiance guild, for example, and you can, of course, tone down on the granted 'abilities'

My idea would be for the guild to not require levels at all, merely you gain more abilities as you advance through the ranks. Just like turn undead is an ability.

Example ranks and possible effects
Deacan - Radiant aura 1/day, 1 extra turn undead
Teacher - Searing light
Priest - Radiant aura 2/day
Bishop - Another extra turn undead
Prophet - Beam of Sunlight and Radiant aura 3/day
Guild Master -radiant aura 4/day

This type of addition is stilll on hold. At this point we feel there are plenty of opportunities allowing players to individualize their PCs with current classes, guilds, skills, spells and feats. In the future, as our playerbase grows, we may revisit the idea.

Alright, that's fine,I actually recently bought the Libris Mortis manual, and fell in love with the master of radiance idea, hehe. The True necromancer was awesome too, but too powerful for FK, hehe. In fourteen true necromancer levels you gain 12 arcane spellcaster AND 12 divine spellcaster levels. Meaning if you have a level 3 priest and level 3 wizard and level 14 true necromancer you can cast as a level 15 cleric and a level 15 wizard, meaning more spell slots. Many more. It's pretty hard to make a true necromancer guild though, since you can't multi-class wizard and priest of sorceror and priest, which is prerequisite for that prestige class. The other guild ideas I mentioned would be much easier to town down though.

So, I guess I just gotta make the playerbase grow loads and loads, lol. ADVERTISE!!!!! Hehe.

In the past I applied for one of my characters to hold the functions of a prestige class with none of the benefits. AKA Tayza and the Arcane Devotee class. It was approved and became a part of her RP. Personally.... If the RP idea of one interests you and you do not want the benefits but just want to rp it.... apply. What can it hurt?

Roleplaying the title or interests/obligations of a Prestige class, specialised cleric or other titled WotC character-concept is a good idea in my opinion.

Applying will usually be straightforward, but it is always best to drop us a line so we know what route you are taking and can make use of it in roleplays later on.

Not to derail the thread or anything... But with the mud applications/special roleplays now headed by new people, Do you still have records of all special applications that were granted?

If not.. Do you want an e-mail detailing old applications approved and what they "mean" or special "features" that were granted from the approval?

The majority of Admin records were not available to us when we moved to the new set-up, so yes a copy of your approved application would be useful.

Should I send an application then, to apply to use that title with one of my characters, the Lathanderite priestess. If I were to say so, as far as Faerun goes, I think Lathander would be the ideal faith. Ehlonia would be the favored deity for the class from the core books, but from all my searching, she, like Pelor, is not in the Faerun Pantheon.

Lathander is to Pelor as Mielikki is to Ehlonna, though Mielikki doesn't have the sun domain as Ehlonia has. And neither Pelor or Lathander has the plant domain, which is the other favored domain of Masters of radiance, but since none of the deities of Faerun have both the sun and plant domain, I decided that one or the other would be an in character suggestion, you know?

Anyway, I am off topic again, but basically do I need to send an application then? Or can I just rp being a Master of Radiance, and at such a time as the prestige class or guild is going to be coded, I can role-play helping to build the guild or somesuch? If the coders get around to it, that is. I won't pressure or rush. Actually, now that I consider it, I probably should send an application, so that at the very least you'll have a record of my request and what it entails and all.
