Old story, new medium

I'm under the impression that there are plenty of songs passed down within race populations as part of the heritage, spoken about in FR canon but never actually published. If one were to actually compose lyrics to such a song, would there be a way to publish those ICly? It seems a bit of a sticking point, since the songs already exist in game and were presumably composed by bards long ago, but we the players don't actually have lyrics for them and I think it would be nice to.
The only ways I can think of to attribute quasi-existant folk songs to a "modern-day" bard would be in the form of either a revival/rewriting (which might be justifiably seen as kind of impetuous) or a translation, which might be questionable, at least to some races.
If such in-game attribution isn't possible, would there still be some way for a player to make those lyrics available in game if they were composed?
