OSOW Unique items - Options for doubles?

Hi there. Back in the day, before OSOW items were set as unique, on more than one of my characters I chose to purchase as my only two purchases, two of the same items. Said items were what in the bunch worked both for the functioning of my character during adventuring time, and also, matching to the rest of the items worn in my armour set. I know that I am not the only person who did so.
So what I suggest here, is that as the PURCHASABLE items are paid for with a characters own money, and choices made only for two, is that for people like myself who chose the same of one item, there be some option put in to trade said item for a whole new item, or even money refund etc.
I know the change was put in because of the amount of items being stacked from the OSOW, I perfectly respect that aspect of it for people who own four and five of the OSOW items. But for some people, two of one item simply worked best for them, and those were the only items they chose / wore, that's a good amount of coin to have an item that is generally just stealing inventory space now.
Thanks :)

I was surprised to discover that these items had been made unique as the policy decision at the time was only that no player could own more than two.
Owning two of the same item was not, I thought, an issue. however, owning more than two items in total was made a strikeable offense to stop people stacking.
I'd suggest the 'unique' flag was removed, but there may be reasons why the builders felt they needed to be added. Perhaps we could get some input?

Those flags were added back when everybody and their brother were wearing 2 rings of spellcasting, or 2 necklaces.
Now, since the Arcane is ICly gone and these objects can't be bought anymore, I guess that removing those flags would be fine.

Any news on this topic? I logged my druid recently, and have seen that his phaerimm bracelets are still considered unique. He's had them for some time, and I wasn't sure if this just never got around to happening, or it was decided against, or what.

I hope this won't derail the suggestion, but could someone explain "OSOW" I'm not familiar with the acronym, and this whole thread isn't making a lot of sense to me. If its strikeable to own more than a couple such things... I'd like to know what they are so I dont make that mistake. Pardon my newbie-ness.

Items with these flags cannot be worn by anyone but the original owner. Attempts to wear them lead to dropping the item, character damage, the item destroying itself, ect. In days past, experienced players were buying unique items, such as the amulet and ring wizards gained in the school of wonders, from young players who did not know much about the game...usually for far less than the item was worth. Another example is the already mentioned old school of wonders trade-in items. The flag was placed in and a warning to give excess unique items to imms was implemented to stop the abuse. These days, the old school is no longer accessable in-game also many item effects and game rules have changed so it is less of an issue.
Though none of my character have retained any items with the flag, I agree it is about time to try again.

It stands for the Old School of Wonder, an ingame area.

Revisting this topic, there are many items that were not unique that a player would get one of in a quest. Some of us old timers traded (in fair trades) to get two of a particular item. Would the possibility of an application to remove a "unique" flag off of one item per player so to speak?

Along these lines, I had my phaerim hide bracelets altered to have the unique flag removed.

Are you talking about the rings? I was told those are going to stay unique when I questioned it.. I'm not a huge fan of the unique flag at all, but I can see the reasoning behind it. I would like an option for trading it for something usable, however. I suppose it could always be traded, too, but it just seems a waste because if you did trade it the person is cheated when THEY do the quest and realize they can't wear theirs.

No... A metallic bracelet is what I am speaking of. You cannot get them in game anymore as the reward for the quest in question was changed. So I wonder why the unique flag still exists
