Would it be possible to get a more detailed explanation of the mechanics behind the various material types as explained in http://www.gallwey.com/fk/builders/olesson10.php ?
How hard is hardwood for example? Is it harder than ebony or yew? More durable? How do the various materials relate to one-another? Is bronze harder than copper? I know it is in real life, but sometimes it's hard to tell here the subtle differences between the various materials. If, for instance, one wanted to code an item that was analagous to ironwood without making it technically metal (which would allow it to be repaired all over the realms, something that definitely shouldn't be the case), one might run into some difficulty, there might not be an appropriate material at all. There are many other things where it would be nice to know the subtle differences in hardness and durability between items when the names don't suffice. We all know steel is better than iron, and mithril is better than steel, it's the stuff that we don't use or compare too much that it's hard to tell.
Thanks in advance!
