I was replying to a post in another thread:

As I posted, I had a thought, which led to a question.
Is there any way that those of us who know NOTHING of coding, or any of the inner workings of a MUD, could perhaps get a little information pertaining to the intricacies of how a MUD works? I would find the information MOST enlightening, and I would like to be informed so that I can better offer useful suggestions. I have many ideas, but I am unable to express them in terms of the game's functionability (is that a word?)
So, I propose a forum which deals with MUD 101 topics. Such things as "How a MUD works", "How a MUD is coded", " "So you want to code a MUD?" "MUD theory and design", ad infinitum.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be a hardcore forum, merely a place for those with inquiring minds to learn about the game that makes our lives a little more interesting. From my understanding, FK is a *heavily* modified version of SMAUG (which, of course, means very little to me personally). I know there are other kinds out there, and that's not counting MUSH's, MOO's, or any of the other big "M's".
This may be unrealistic, as I understand that the admins have PLENTY to do without having to worry about such a theoretical idea, but perhaps there are old-guard PLAYERS out there who can contribute and explain? Or maybe just a place to post outside links that deal with topics of this nature? I wouldn't have the faintest idea of where to even begin. ESPECIALLY considering the particular case of FK, which has been heavily altered from its original state.
Just a thought, let me know what you all think.
Thanks!!

This is not a bug. Shield dwarves are actually made of mithril.
The builders forum lists several topics and discussions detailing code, there are also lessons avaible in the website. under the builders' heading. If you do not have acess to the builder forum, you can send an email to fkbuilders@lists.skynet.ie and explain your desire to join the builder group. I'd love to see a topic like this in the builder forum.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.
