[feat] Jousting

This would, of course, be a feat for the mounted combatants.

It'd work kinda like firing a ranged weapon ( shoot >direction< >mob< ) but it be ( joust >direction< >mob< )

You'd charge into the next room and ram the mob with your mounted polearm. If you hit, the mob is heavily damaged. If you miss, you continue into the next room. If there isn't a next room the horse would stop and you'd be stunned ( disoriented/confused ) for a round or two. Its kinda like backstab, but deals more damage, and has a higher chance of failing. Since you are riding a horse at your opponent, your opponent has a greater chance of seeing the attack coming.

FE:
You see a Goblin Soldier nearby west. ( you are riding your horse and have your mounted polearm wielded with the jousting feat )

You type : joust west goblin

EITHER a, b, or c will happen.

A: You charge into the next room and your weapon hits its mark. Heavy damage will be inflicted and you continue fighting.

B: You miss. Since you went west to attack your opponent, you continue west into the next room.

C: There is no "next room" so you stop, possibly hit a wall, and are stunned for a round or 2.

If you have "Improved Jousting" feat, then you will no longer become stunned when you miss.

EDIT: Removed bottom portion to note I am back

Personally, I think this would be a fine idea as a command alone. Seeing as we already have mounted combat and spirited charge in-game, I think it would be very nice to have. Maybe it wouldn't make you go a room past - if you think about how big the world map square is, that may be a bit much.

I really like this idea!

bump...?

Normally I woudn't ressurect a dead thread but I came up with this due to the limited Mounted Combat fighting techs. We get a few feats and Mounted Polearms. My main character is a calvaryman, and I have to say combat is kinda boring. I just sit back on my horse, unable to make use most of my skills. I can't use Trample feat due to the fact my character is a priest ( unfaithed priest at that ). I don't know if there are many calvary-type players out there but I'd like it if there were more things a Mounted-Combatant could perform.

One of my character's RPs used to be as a mounted warrior. I could never find mounted rescue or mounted archery(though I wouldn't have taken that one for certain reasons). Not having mounted rescue kind of killed the whole RP of being a mounted warrior... No use being a knight in shining armor on horseback if you can't rescue anyone! :P

But seriously, I think mounted combat should be given a little attention. As it stands it has very good feats(trample and spirited charge, very very nice) and has a lot a lot of potential for a strong support for mounted roleplay.

I want there to be a bit more mounted combat type feats because us Mounted-Combatants are quite limited. If we are not a Fighter than we also lose access to the Trample feat, which is the only attack-type feat.

Mounted Combat Feat allows you to fight mounted. If it costs you a feat point to fight while mounted I sure hope there some good feats to go along with so I don't feel like I wasted a feat point.

Mounted Rescue is nice, but how does that help me in combat

Spirited Charge helps a lot in combat, but 1 decent combat feat isn't very great.

Trample, as said before, only useful if you are of the fighter class.

Another reason why I came up with this.

EDIT: I don't mind if it were a command either, in reguards to the post above.

I also have a character who is a mounted combatant, solely.
Hrosskell has taken most of the feats, but I really would like to see
mounted archery and mounted rescue more publicized, and honestly like this joust idea. It's just cool, if it could come with a little echo or something. Like, "So and so charges in from the whatever direction"... I love mounted combat, but anywho. Just showing my support.
