Just a little thought I had. Maybe be able to pick if ur right or left handed at creation, and get a +1hr/dr to weapons in that hand or something. And maybe make an ambidextrous feat where u get the bonus in weapon wield in both. Nothing spectacular

Your handedness is already figured in with the lack of penalty when you wield one weapon. Everyone is assumed to have a dominant hand, so there's no bonus to having a hand, because everyone is on equal ground there.
You also have handedness figured in the fact that your offhand weapon when dual wielding is at a much more harsh penalty than the primary hand. This is alleviated by taking a feat which makes the penalty equal for both hands. We're currently discussing more feats that we can add in light of the new combat system, ambidexterity (called two-weapon fighting in 3.5E) included, I'm sure.

I might be wrong but I think it works this way: If you wield only one weapon, it doesn't matter if it is in your left hand or your right. When you wield two, your right is dominant and the left is considered the secondary weapon when dual-wield checks to see if it was successful.

I think it would be kind of cool to be able to set handedness so that if you want your left hand to be the dominant one it can be. It wouldn't offer any advantage. I've seen it on other games, and it's really just a small character customization option.

I agree.. I know its small, but it adds something. I don't know why, but I always find it cool to watch Link on the Legend of Zelda games because he's a lefty. This is what makes something like the Princess Bride interesting... If you don't know, its worth the time to watch it.... two swordsmen squaring off both begin left handed and chaos ensues.

"Then why are you smiling?"
I love it.

Showing my ignorance here...
But how does the code determine which is your primary weapon and which is your secondary weapon?
Does it assume the right-handed weapon of a pair of weapons is the primary? The first one wielded or the larger of the two?

As far as I know, it's always the right-hand weapon.

I agree with Balek, it's my understanding that a single-wielded weapon doesn't distinguish between hands, but when two are wielded, the right hand is the dominant.

And right-handed suppression of everything left-handed strikes again!
