Druids and Bless Water

Post by Hrosskell » Thu Dec 06, 2007 5:48 pm

Had a question about this. Druids don't get bless water, yet they have heal and sanctuary, both of which call for blessed water. There might be a few more, I wasn't quite sure, but wanted to ask why we didn't get it or if it was just a mistake. Anywho. Just wondering.

As a player with a druid that uses both of these spells regularly, wouldn't mind an answer myself.

Transmutation [Good]
Level: Clr 1, Pal 1 Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: Touch
Target: Flask of water touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (object)

This transmutation imbues a flask (1 pint) of water with positive energy, turning it into holy water.
This spell is not a druid spell

Which makes sense to me, since the concept of holy water is more a priest thing.

There are other ways in game to get holy water that do not involve entering the city. As a druid player I have never missed the spell.

In essence, from an IC perspective, it's the same reason that a cleric can turn undead, but a druid cannot. To make holy water, you channel positive energy into the water, much like to turn undead, you channel the same positive energy to attempt to repel or destroy negative energy creatures.

Druids channel elemental energy, rather than positive and negative, which is why they lack these and other +- energy spells (energy drain, enervation, etc) and have a larger disposal of elemental and nature affecting spells (and yes, I know a bunch of them haven't made it from the books to FK code... we need more of them!)

Oh aye, its easy enough to get without entering a city. Have yet to run out when its needed on the old druid. Was curious nonetheless. *shrug*
