Trade Modifiers

The mining modifiers were changed to (Lck,Lck) which seems logical, as mining should be based somewhat on luck, but it really turns out bad when its put into practical use. (Str,Lck) was much better, is there any chance of getting mining changed back?

Also Armour Smithing and Weaponsmithing have both been given (Lck,Dex) whereas it used to be (Str,Dex) These trades are a big part of the Dwarven race, making their crafting rely on luck and dexterity (which is not something dwarves pride or excel in) really makes the smithing of inferior items that much worse.

My character generally trades metals with people in waterdeep. He currently has a couple people who even request metals from him, even more now with the addition of the Make Whole spell. Its great for RP and trading, even though the metals really don't give him much income.

As a novice at mining I used to be able to get 3-4 ores from about 20 attempts, and it was mostly iron the last few times before the change, now the same mining locations are only giving me tin, and that's only when I am extremely lucky, here's a chunk of my log.

Edit: Gave it another run to see if it was just just a fluke, from a grand total of 51 attempts I got 1 tin ore. 1/51 attempts produced ore. I can't even imagine how many it would take someone who was still inept. MIning used to take long before, but this is horrible.

They seemed to have changed alot of checks to luck primary which makes it difficult in application as there are no trainers for luck. Instead of changing all of these primaries around, how about someone putting in a quest for a NPC to train a character's luck? Would this be a viable option? I could think of a few NPC priests that would be IC to teach it.

But mining using the Luck modifier twice, still seems a bit much.

Im not sure but I think something possibly happened in an update to all skills/trades/weapons/ect.. that changed the attributes that they rely on. Im not sure if it was intended or not but I know other posts have been made and its being looked at.

What appears to have happened is that all skills and trades which used strength as a modifier for success have been replaced with Luck.

As noted, the change came about as a result of another unrelated update and is being looked at.

In the meantime, feel free to roleplay and explore instead of fighting and working on trades.

It still appears that all the skills that were affected by your attribute of STR are still affected by Luck. Just a 'heads up'! ;)

Note, with minning. Even an Immortal with GM skill levels and such.. do not succed often. I learned this early in my carrear when I looted Feindra's shop of all her ore. Mystra at the time took me in and showed me why stealing from a PC shop was considered not good.

So. GM at minning does not mean total success. You will be lucky to get it 1/2 of the time.
