Commoners to Nobles

I remeber reading somewhere that if a Noble found it suitable to adopt a commoner into their house it would be done.
Would that be doable in FK to? As a Priestess of House Baenre would I be able to adopt a commoner, giving him an insignia and such, making him a Baenre?

We'd have to look that up for FR canon first. If it was so, then we'd discuss it relative to FK.
From my point of view though, I don't see the point. Commoners should rp that role and Nobles their roles. The diversity makes for a much better game.

It is certainly FR canon Drizzt's father was raised to the nobility because of his extrodinary skill with a blade for example.
As far as FK goes in my opinion this should really only be done by the Matron Mother of a house, so not completely immpossible just very very hard ! And a long term RP.

Duranamir is correct. For Drow of extraordinary ability, being adopted into a noble house is par for the course. Especially for female Priestesses, there are almost no 'commoner' priestesses, any Priestess with the favor of Lolth would quickly be adopted into a noble House, and remember Menzoberranzan technically has like 130-something noble houses, so there are always those looking for a powerful priestess. But he's also correct, it makes more sense for a Drow commoner here, if they really *want* to be a member of a noble house, to have a long, long, long term roleplay whereby they become extremely powerful, one of the most powerful Drow in the game, and hence are worthwhile enough for a Matron to take in. They would have to take a new name and from that point on would be claimed to be a 'cousin' from another city or something of that sort.

I agree with that. It should be an almost impossible event without the consent of a matron mother.
