Gameboards

It would be really nice if we could actually play backgammon, checkers, and so on, rather than just using boards as a prop. It adds opportunities for RP and things to do with other characters.. when one, say, is stuck in a city.

Sounds like a major drain on valuable builder time - so if I can be forwarded to resources on area and item coding, I'd love to take a shot. :)

Have a gander at
http://www.gallwey.com/fk/builders/

Mind you, this might be quite tricky to code - a difficult place to start!

You should also communicate with the building team (fkbuilders@lists.skynet.ie) before starting to build anything...but after you have edified yourself on the building process with the lessons and remain convinced you'd like to give it a try!

Also, the game boards introduced in the catalog shop are renamed wooden objects. It would be impossible to add code to them. But that does not mean future objects of different coding could not be added to the game.

Really, you could use a rand prog that went off of the command play $1 Where $1 is another player. A check on each players wisdom and intelligence stats could affect the outcome. Basically the game will randomly decide if player A beats player B. It wouldn't allow you to actually play the boardgames but it does allow more interaction without sitting and typing out emotes and such.
