Since in D&D, thieves get proficiency with the shortbow, id like to propose giving the the bow weapon skill to the thieves guild.

While I agree with it, mind that this will allow thieves to use longbows and composite bows, which are weapons in which the "thief class (rogue)" hasn't proficiency, also mind that rogues have proficiency with single-edged blades weapons with which the rogue class hasn't proficiency at all.

I agree, but quite honestly bows (especially Crossbows) are very useful for Rogues (Thieves in FK) as their range is close (so sneak attack works), they have a standard high damage, and feats like rapid reload can be used on them. This can allow for up to two sneak attacks off the bat for a Thief! One would be the initial, surprise attack. The second would be catching the opponent flat-footed if they fail initiative vs the Thief.
As far as single-edged, I don't know if that's required as much as a lot of rapiers (if not all?) are 'thrusting' weapons.
I don't play my rogue as often as I used to, so my info may be dated.

Just to throw my 2 cents in regarding thieves having access to all bows:
Elves are currently granted all 2x edged blades, as well as all bows, regardless of class.. they're only supposed to be proficient in longsword and bows. I'd say that the concession to allow thieves access to bows is not any greater than elves having access to say, bastard sword.

Thieves do currently have access to crossbows, but only those.
