School of Wonder

As it has become increasingly more tedious to reach level 10, I'd like to suggest the level cap to begin lessons at the school of wonder be removed.

Currently you must be level 10 to even begin, while these days sometimes people even spend 100+ hours below 10 I think it would be benefitial to anyone to be able to both work on their lessons AND gain exp and coin.

If the cap is really seen as important to the school, it could be changed that you cannot FINISH the school until level 10.

I support the suggestion.

At least as long as it's still this difficult to get to level 10.

I agree, having put a wizard through the school recently myself. :)
I can see the need to place a restriction on level for the school, but seeing as it took over 60 hours of near constant grinding to get to level 10, with an occaisional break to rp with whatever other pc was to be found in the training area, perhaps Mele's suggestion to place the cap on graduation, instead of entrance would work out rather well. Any way, thats just my two coppers. :D

I really like the idea. But with the way the school is (mind I haven't had a wizard young enough to go through the school in a very long time so things could have changed...) I do not see how much good it would do to remove the level restriction for entrance. Without putting up too much IC info..fairly early in the school, in order to progress you need to learn a skill. A skill which you cannot learn until higher than level 10. I THINK you are supposed to be level 14 to learn it..which would make the earliest you could learn be level 9. So really you'd just be effectively dropping down the cap one level. That is pretty early in the school process I think. I'd like to say again that I really like the idea of not having a level requirement to get into the school...especially with it being so time consuming getting to the level to be able to get into it. I just do not see how much good it would actually do because of the way the school is set up. I remember having problems with that class because of exp issues..if you learn the skill early it eats up your exp, so you can do maybe one training session and then you have to go bash more things to get more exp so you can have another training session.. Perhaps the skill level requirement for that skill could be lowered too? *inno*

The skill is level 14. This means it is trainable at 9. :) But there's lessons and travel before that, too. :) Part of the progression of train while go through lessons etc. :)

As someone who has very recently completed his stay in the School of Wonder, I agree that one should be able to join despite level. Even if you cannot progress beyond the meditate lesson, there are still things before it that can help you get to a level of sufficient merit to complete all of the lessons.

Actually, the meditation lesson is the second one if I remember correctly. For the first lesson, you just have to answer one or two relatively easy questions (one might require some IC research, not sure).

But one of the behind-the-scene suggestions was to actually give meditation at a lower level, and perhaps make it a passive skill, that you can learn and practice from level 1+ on (or level 3 or so ... from the start, basically).

I think it would be helpful if meditate was lowered down some. Granted it has been quite some time since I have played a low lvl wizard or cleric for that matter, though I distincly remember waiting a very long time to get one or two spells prepared which is understandible. It would be helpful if the lower lvl casters and priests could get their spells/prayers back a little quicker. :)

When characters are lower lvl I think a fair majority of their time is spend on grinding to get those hard to gain first lvls, and I think it would help both the priest/ess and the wizards gain the begaining lvls a little easier. If any one has ever tried starting caster it is hard enough as it is and it would make it a little bit easier.

Fully support removing level restrictions on the School. Level 1 or level 50, the school's quests give the same training, info, and benefits so removing the restriction would not harm anything.

Also fully support lowering meditation's level requirement. The waiting on even one spell in the newbie levels is nerve racking. Wouldn't mind seeing it as a made-with for priests/wizards on creation. Considering almost everyone gets it as soon as possible it wouldn't have much impact on the overall game balance to give it at 'birth', but at least drop it to level 4 or 5.

I definitely agree with removing the level requirement to joining your guild. It's very un-IC to me. I also support the casters getting access to meditation starting at level 1. Honestly, with my newer wizards I didn't bother resting for spells. I just attacked the dummies. If I got low on health, I fled, came back after resting, and attacked again. Rinse/repeat. Very hack and slash, but no other way to do it.

I know the the Fighter's guild mob program requires you to be level 10 to join, too. Just thought that was worth mentioning. :)
