Lapidary - using gems worn vs inventory

While constructing a ring with the lapidary trade, instead of the command taking the gem from inventory, it preferentially used an item of jewellery worn by the PC. Log pasted below. The ruby gemmed bracelet was a worn item.

You get a clear crystal from a black leather belt with many pouches.
exam clear
It is a clear crystal.
It cannot be worn with any other armour.
It is medium in size.
It is made of gem and weighs next to nothing.

You heat copper in a red hot forge.

You set a clear crystal in the ring.

Lapidary and Hammers

Character: Gilain, dwarf.

Item: "a jewelers hammer"
You see nothing special.
It is a pick in the long spikes category of weapons.
It can be picked up, held, held in both hands.
It cannot be worn with any other armour.
It is medium in size.
It is made of metal and weighs about 6 pounds.

Problem: Any attempt to use Lapidary results in the "You need to wield a jeweler's hammer".

Details: This is the first time I have tried to use lapidary since the dwarf size, weapon catagory, and handness changes. Same hammer I have been using for Lapidary since I learned the trade, worked fine before. I ensured I am not holding any other items in my hands. Tried holding the hammer in both hands to the same results. Construct commands same as usual, even checked helpfile to double-check. All other necessary items in inventory or in room.

Is this some hiccup from the weapon change or...?

I second this issue. I tried to use my jeweller's hammer last night and it gave me the echo "You need to wield a jeweller's hammer." Someone suggested I resize the hammer to my correct size, so I did. And after trying again, same issue.

Dapher and Melian are finding that they have the same problem when they try to make rings or anything of the sort. Which with multiple wedding coming up creates a problem.

I have the same problem on Thendrel. No matter the kind of hammer I'm using, it tells me I need a jeweller's hammer. So I went and got one, and it still requires me to use one. Which is odd.

You need to wield a jeweller's hammer.

It's quite depressing. :(

I wasn't able to use this trade even having a jeweler hammer in each hand and one in my inventory.

Lapidary is still broken, it's been a few months now. Don't know if maybe it was forgotten or whatnot. :)

Thanks

If the problem seems derived that the trade needs a specific item to use the trade, perhaps it could be modified so you need to wield a light hammer weapon type.

Note; you can hold any kind of weapon, using it efficiently if your class doesn't have that weapon skill is enterily different

Just posting to let everyone know the Lapidary and Hammer bug is still alive and kicking. I keep hearing rumors it has been fixed but when I test I get the same sad sad message.

Would it be possible to have an update on this? The last time I checked (around three weeks ago), it was still giving the return "You need to wield a jeweler's hammer".

Ta,
Doc

Giving this thread a kick in the rear to see if there is any updates. Recent attempts at Lapidary, by Gilain, have had the same results as the original post. Just me following up on old issues. No rush, just curious.

Okies...from cursory tests on the test and game ports, I believe the Lapidary trade doesn't work and hasn't for some time. I was told previously it was in the 'queue' but I don't see anything in Bugzilla. Was this bumped over to builders for some reason?

Any recent info or logs are appreciated! :D

For now, I'm Confirming and will pop into Bugzilla in a couple days if I don't hear anything.

Here's Gilain's lapidary attempt a few minutes ago. I bough this hammer 3 days ago to ensure it was not due to a copyover error with an older hammer. Enjoy,

Ok, looks like this is already in Bugzilla (890).
