This is a training event for Alfrid, a mock assault on the halls of justice. The rules are as follows:
Code: Select all
-There will be smoted combat only
-No spell casting
-The winner of an encounter will be determined by an OOC dice roll contest(http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm) to keep things random, but to give it the sense of being staged and fake
-The drill ends when an objective is complete
=Objectives may include:
+All attackers or defenders are defeated
+Alfrid is defeated
+A designated "maiden" is captured
+A designated "sanctuary" is breached
I would like to accomplish this soon. Please let me know which of these times is better for everyone(Who have already been asked ICly)

or

If these times do not work for the majority of those involved, please offer alternatives. This should be fun, looking forward to it!

I'd prefer the first option (Tuesday). Saturday might work, but an hour or two earlier would be safer.

Tuesday is good for me. I probably won't be around at that time on Saturday.

Tentatively, Tuesday looks better than Saturday as well.

This is looking like it will happen on Tuesday then.

School starts Tuesday, but 2:00 PM falls within my large break. However, I have to speak with advisement that day so I'm hit or miss for that event.

Due to my computer going through some issues I won't be able to resolve until later tonight, Lysaron will probably not be able to attend. Very sorry about this, but it looks like I will not be up and running by the time of the event.

I'm very sorry, I sacrificed the power supply from my computer so that my wife could get payroll out on time (her work computer died, and is identical to my own). That's true love! I would have had to reply I couldn't make either time, anyway, though. Big meeting at work on Tuesday.
I hope enough people were present for this to be successful. If it hasn't happened yet, I regret that I will be out of town this weekend.

No worries, Raona, I did some last minute recruiting. Unfortunately we only managed to finish two of the four planned rounds. If everyone enjoyed this, we can schedule a time to finish up the remaining two rounds?

Why smoted and no code attacks on killmode spar? We have code, we should use code.

A few reasons. The biggest, we didn't want the mobs in the temple to join in and kill us. That really was the main reason for this system. Also, it was a training exercise, there was no combat. Points were awarded for tapping your opponent with the flat of your blade, so this was a system to reflect that fake combat

The reasoning was that the structures, where it'd be in character to do a training scenario at, have npc's who don't understand the difference between killmode kill/stun/spar and we'd quickly be in a scenario where we're killing paladin guards.
The structures that don't have guards or other good samaritans, are filled with wandering aggro mobs...also not appropriate for a training exercise.
I'm down with killmode spar/stun for these type of roleplays, but the logistics of it just weren't there. I'd be willing to code a place in a vacant lot or near waterdeep where we could, though.
I liked it, and I'd like it even more if we could do it full speed.
edit: Jaenoic beat me

i have to admit when we were all "fighting" in one roon it got a tad on the confusing side but i thought on the whole it worked well, i agree that if we could use code it would be better but as for the guards in the halls attacking us i have spared loads of times in the courtyard and stuff and never been attacked. Of course if someone was willing to code an area specific for it then great. Oh and i am up for doing it again

Good point. Good reason. No objection.
Also, it was a training exercise, there was no combat. Points were awarded for tapping your opponent with the flat of your blade, so this was a system to reflect that fake combat
One who is more proficient codewise with a blade should have a better chance to tap an opponent who is less proficient. This reason is less sound and code could be used here. However, the problem associated with your first point trumps this one.

I think I actually prefer the sparring, because I think in the middle of that watching all of the numbers coming it was making my brain smoke. But that being said, I had never done anything like that before and thought it was really fun. Paladins fleeing down the halls, and seeing probably the most inexperienced one out of all of us, take three of us down at a time. The page saving the paladin. I thought it was pretty funny. Not something I'd recommend for every situation, but I thought it was a very good solution to what we needed, and I absolutely wouldn't mind participating again next time if there is one. Kallias should have been an actor rather than a paladin, he had a couple of good death scenes.
