Betandor's Guide to a Good Adjective
There have been questions about the use of the adjective command. A good
adjective should describe your character AT ALL TIMES. Adjectives meant to
give your character an appearance which would change during stressful,
threatening, or resting situations should not be used. You might argue, and
some have tried, "My character doesn't ever rest or sleep, only meditates."
Look at your logged out time as rest and sleep in this case if you must.
However, to be in the proper mindset for meditation, most people have to turn
inward and find their inner focus. They have no interest or knowledge of
their surroundings, and hence would cease to have many of the adjective
traits that many people first think of for their characters.
As another example, many characters who play evil seem to want the adjective
menacing or something which means the same thing, and those who play good
alignment always seem to want kind or some other similar word to describe
them. These are two examples of suspect adjectives, because no one can be
manacing all of the time, or kind all of the time either. If there were a
deity standing in the room, chances are, the menace would drop right out of a
mortal, otherwise they'd end up in the Abyss or worse. At the same time, it
is hard to be labelled kind by everyone and everything, when most of the
advancement through the Realms is done by killing mobiles to complete quests
and gain experience and money. Instead of choosing an adjective which changes
to fit situations such as those listed above, try choosing something which is
a bit more permenant. For example, a physical feature, green eyed, grey
haired, willowy, stumpy, hook-nosed, ect. Use things from your long
description. Be original, and choose something that will make your character
stand out. If the Immortals realize that you have taken the time to choose an
adjective that fits and you play well, often no one else who creates
characters will be able to have that adjective, as the Immortals would rather
have different creative words, even if it all means the same thing. The
different adjectives thus created will give greater enjoyment of roleplay,
and allow someone to speak to someone else in crowded rooms without everyone
being "A tall strong male half-elf", or something else similar
