Priests
A priest is one who follows a deity and promotes the ideals of that deity to the exclusion of all else. As such, the deity grants them his power in the form of divine spells, many having to do with protection and healing. The skills and spells of a priest are determined by which deity they follow.
It should be noted that most non-human priests are limited to only being able to serve their racial deities. The confirmed exceptions are:
* A gnome may be a priest of Gond. * A halfling may be a priest of Tymora * An elf may be a priest of Mielikki * An elf may be a priest of Chauntea * A member of a demi-human race may follow any human deity
Any combination other than those listed here should be applied for before enquiring or applying to join a faith. Please make any applications here: http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org/board/viewforum.php?f=131
Note that Malar, Chauntea, and Mielikki do not have priests, but rather all of their religious followers are druids. Those wishing to follow Mielikki, Chauntea, and Malar as non human priests should check help druids for more details.
* Druids do not possess Domain prayers like their Cleric counterparts.
* Priests begin with two ranks in the armor proficiency feat, and the shield proficiency feat.
* Priests guild by joining a faith. Until they do so, their spellcasting abilities are limited to a select subset of the spells available to guilded clerics. If such spells are available to both clerics and druids, unguilded priests cast them at the highest level at which they are cast by either clerics or druids. Upon being accepted into a faith, a priest becomes either a cleric or a druid.
