Mining
Syntax: mine
Mining is the art of taking a pick to a rock face and finding the ore buried
within. It takes time and alot of patience and a willingness to spend alot of
time underground. In order to learn how to mine a PC will need to do a quest
to learn the skill. The skill is not learned with the train command but only
by quest.
The more valuable and rare an ore, the more mining skill is required to
extract it. Beginning miners will only be able to extract common, simple
ores. As one improves their mining skills, more valuable ores will be
mineable.
Once obtained, ore must generally be SMELTed before it can be used in
metalworking and other trades.
* You have a very limited chance of success, and no chance of improving your
skill, if you attempt to mine with no training whatsoever. But you can do so.
* Be mindful that some metals have an IC importance to certain races, and
should be dealt with carefully. For example, an elf who sells elven steel to
non-elves would be regarded poorly by his or her peers and face consequences.
