New website
Hi folks, The DNS has switched to our new host, and the website should now be fully operational - please let me know if there are any teething problems from the move and rebuild. For the game itself, there is still a lot of work to do to get things up and running even before I get the old data off t...

Re: We Appreciate Mele
Mele, Sorry to hear that you're having a rough time at the moment, I've been there and it is over whelming. Harroghty did exactly the right thing to remind you how much everyone here appreciates you and everything you have done for us in the Forgotten Kingdoms community. Your enthusiasm, hard work, ...

Re: Help wanted!
Hopefully this is now fixed, I'll try and figure out a scroll buffer. I wonder if there is some in game solution we could come up with that would help every user, not just those using this particular client? Could have a grep command to search a buffer for a given string? Or just a way of seeing las...

Re: Important Area or Hard code Upgrades
NPC Healers NPC Healers can now cast 'restoration' so can cater for all of your negative energy needs. Aliases The number of aliases allowed on characters has increased from 40 to 75. In addition, you can now have 'account aliases' which are shared by all characters in your account. Useful for alia...

Re: Encumbrance
I believe I've worked out the last of the kinks in this feature. There were various things that interacted with each other in weird, wonderful and unexpected fashions to make the effects of Stamina changes much more brutal than planned. Please let me know if any behaviour still seems screwy.

Re: Help wanted!
I've got a much updated version of this available now: http://www.forgottenkingdoms.org/client It uses the auto-window sizing code that is now available to all clients to correctly size the window, I also made it a bit bigger, and tried to make sure that the keyboard focus is always correctly in the...

Re: Important Area or Hard code Upgrades
VT Interface and window size I've implemented auto detection of window size and subsequent resizing of the VT interface, so if you resize your terminal, you shouldn't have to type in the appropriate vt <number> command any more, it should 'just work'. Just in case this doesn't work for you, you can...

Re: Important Area or Hard code Upgrades
Encumbrance The game used to have a very complicated and overly clever algorithm for determining the affects of encumbrance on your 'Stamina' when moving around. This algorithm was, in fact, not particularly clever and resulted in some strange and counter-intuitive situations occurring. I've replac...

Re: Help wanted!
It does use port 80, but might not work through a proxy. If you have chrome you can open developer tools, then go to network pane, then click connect, and it should give you some meaningful error message there. Cool thing for me us that it works perfectly from my phone! HTML5 ftw. Are there any clie...

Re: Help wanted!
I had to upgrade my installation of Java today for some other thing I use (submitting boring tax returns!) and afterwards, it would no longer launch Fang, sadly .
