It might make sense to make the duration of crippling strike based on the skill level of the back stab / circle stab up to say the current duration at GM.

The effect comes from the Crippling strike feat. It should not be reduced as it is meant to be long lasting, however, it does not make sense that every single NPC thief mob has that feat. Punch used to force a concentration check on Wizards, and was used craftily back in the day. However, Concentration does not seem to be working as it should these days, with nearly a 100% success rate even at apprentice.
