Better yet, how about a lore skill that allows you to examine the items and discern its qualities, results based on lore skill level and wis/int. Or a trade like appraise, but for magical items. From what I understand of magical items in-game is that you can not have them resized or restrung(renamed) and you have to take them as is.

A good idea... but even then there still has to be some sort of system dividing the weak from the strong, and if skill levels were removed on spells it would remove the one advantage specialists have of being able to GM their preferred School of Magic. I use aliases for my wizards that have metamagic feats as well. But if the new syntax was added, it would make things much easier and quicker. Instead of having aliases for a myriad of spells with different metamagical feats attached to them, you could always just create one alias for each metamagic...

It is the same with the mummies in Feebov's Mansion, they just repeatedly cast "cause serious" on themselves and heal at the same time casting it on you as well. I've been in an encounter that lasted eight minutes before, with them spamming it the whole time.
