Re: Player Status
Thanks for the laughs, but I'm done. You guys have a really tightly-knit circle here, and I'd be envious if it didn't contain quite so many thorns. Have fun!

Script suggestion
Here's an idea by a stupid player for stupid players. Hostlers and stableboys should say something when someone leaves the room while there's an item on the ground. I accidentally left Ceir's saddlebags on the ground a few days ago, and they're long gone.

Weird wands?
Ceir recently stumbled upon some wands left out in the middle of nowhere. They have charges for a spell labelled 'reserved'.
I figure these might just be isolated incidents, but perhaps something's messed up in the item code. If so, you might get more confused reports like this one.

Re: Weapon finesse - short sword
Oriental Adventures says a katana functions as a bastard sword, except 'proper' katanas are always masterwork. That matches the in-game representation pretty well.

Re: Weapon Types
Tylesan: there are multiple conceivable reasons, and it's impossible to say which without looking at the code. "Replace your rng with a mersenne twister and see if the odd behavior persists" is the lazy sort of general solution you try when you're not sure what's going wrong with a psuedo-...

Re: Polymorph (Yes, Again)
I anticipated a few questions, in the case that anyone ever actually reads all that. Here are some pre-emptive replies. Is all this really necessary, anyway? There are two arguments for why such a fix is necessary, but they're largely matters for another topic, probably in General Discussion. To sta...

Polymorph (Yes, Again)
Much to do has already been made about the relative paucity of permissible polymorph forms. I'm making this post to suggest three potential solutions, as precisely stated as I can manage given that I do not have access to the game's code, only a few educated guesses. The explicit goal of all three p...

Re: Weapon Types
If the rand() (or whatever function used) implementation provided by the compiler provides particularly bad distribution or if it is repeatedly seeded with the same starting seed, yeah, you'll see behavior like this. You could try replacing your RNG with a Mersenne Twister, which has almost uniform ...

Re: TMC Ranking Incentives
I'd love to see some of the impossible-to-find spells and skills emerge one way or the other. For example, wandmaking, staffmaking, the level 7~9 spells no one seems to know how to find, would all be neat. I don't know what the other classes have missing from the game right now, but that'd be great ...

Re: A Moose
A real life Player Character managed it once.
Apparently moose aren't particularly well adapted to riding; they're aggressive and hard to train. It's possible, but needlessly difficult since no one (on our planet) has ever bred them to the purpose.

Re: Metamagic feat - Still Spell
I thought I had submitted a similar report earlier, but maybe not. In my case, Ceir ended up purchasing what should have been a bonus feat with a regular feat slot, a bit of a problem given that I would prefer the general feat for spell focus or spell penetration. Is there any way to get that feat u...

Victory! Victory by any means, victory at any cost! Ceir stumbled upon sweet, innocent, child-like Mikynlea at the Waterdeep city gates, being lured away by the nefarious Lord Diritas Marshall, who he knew only through second-hand conversation and general notoriety as a Cyric-worshiping scoundrel. H...

Re: Polymorph race restrictions
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm hoping there's someone who can clue me in to whether or not any new forms still exist past the Adept level. Since Ceir's level 50, there's not much left for him to do but try to beg level 6 through 9 spells from other PCs and grind up what transmutations he's man...

Nitpick: Ascarle area tweak
I discovered the ruined tower in the ruins of Ascarle, and Ceir soon fell into the pit trap at the top of it. The problem is, he was airborne at the time. "Fly" responded with "You are already flying", though the area only allowed speed walk, ostensibly because the tower has cram...

Re: Shape Spell or Sculpt Spell
Actually, yeah, I can't find it either. I probably have it mixed up with a class feature, or it might have been a 3e thing that didn't make the cut. I just remember taking it at level 15... sometime, years and years ago. Apologies.

Shape Spell or Sculpt Spell
There are two feats in 3.5 which are very handy when playing in a large party that would be absolutely fantastic in this game. Given the nature of the mud, they'd be basically identical in effect, so either one would make a fine addition. Sculpt Spell is a metamagic feat that lets you change the are...

Quicken Spell
What precisely does Quicken Spell do in this game? In third edition, it lets you cast a spell as a swift action, which allows you to cast two spells in one round (or cast a spell and attack in one round, or cast a spell and run full tilt in one round...), but I can't seem to manage the same effect i...

Summoned mount not dispelling?
Ceir cast summon mount on experimental whim, and found himself with a nameless light horse. Not long after, while on the world map (if I remember correctly), he found himself in a bit of a hurry. Without a fly spell to spare, he left the light horse in the middle of nowhere and rushed off to do what...
