Welcome to FK! This place is awesome. I don't think you'll find a MUD out there that allows you to immerse with your character, and environment, quite like this one. Never be afraid to ask questions, as this game has a lot to learn about!

I personally don't put much thought into it if I see someone who's evil walk into my room. Alignment is just one of those things that can be differ by opinion, especially when you drill down past good/evil/neutral, and get into lawful/chaotic. What the guy above me said. You give up all 5 attacks (up to) so that you can make a single attack on all foes. Makes perfect sense to me from a balance standpoint as well. EDIT: heck, if you really wanted to get crazy, make it so for each opponent in the room, you have a -5 chance to hit as it goes...

Some good points have been brought up on this thread, for instance, I didn't think about the fact that everyone can buy the same cart, so having identical keys (while minimizing potential thefts) would still almost defeat the purpose. It's probably more work than it's worth, but I think the only way...

So I was fiddling with the idea of making a travelling merchant, with the roleplay of always having my wagon or cart traveling next to me and thought it would be cool to be able to purchase a lockable cart, not to say people would steal, but if i'm fighting things and leave my cart outside the scary...

Just as a follow-up to this, the reason you cannot see into other rooms is because true sight may only offer 30ft of darkvision, and not 60. Otherwise, true sight works fine in the room you're currently in.

For the record: I too would love to see something like this implemented. I have had three instances that have occurred like this, 1 was fixed by an online IMM, the other two were applied to have fixed, and were both denied, one of which left me with an unfinished quest.
