Re: Feat - Heavy Armor Optimization
While the subject's up, does it codedly add an armour bonus only when a character is actually wearing heavy armour? The description text is ambiguous on that count.

Can a log be posted? Did anyone make a log?
It's in the pastebin link above, since I didn't want to spam the board and we don't seem to have any working [spoiler] tags.

Re: Great Role-Play
I had great fun! Feel like I botched some of my emotes because it was my first time flailing around with pvp, so I had to learn how the mechanics of it worked simultaneously, but it was a good scrap.

Re: Modification to merchants outside Dripping Dagger
Hey. I agree that the existence of the multitudes of coloured weapons and armour aren't a problem in themselves and I have no intention of lobbying to have people's shiny toys taken away. But the diku-based shop interface FK uses is just not user-friendly enough for the sort of item clutter some of ...

Re: Crime: Sentences
Yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear, I was responding to the 'unable to call for help' and 'killing all witnesses' bit. I agree that they shouldn't be stacking multiple charges for each incident.

Re: Crime: Sentences
For example: I was fighting this NPC, it was incapacitated, but right before it was completely dead, it yells something, guards rush in, so I slaughter them as well. All witnesses were dead from the initial NPC to all guards that assisted... yet they still know who it was? Presumably it's picked up...

Re: The newbie experience
The argument against this is player base. Honestly though, I've never really had too much trouble finding anyone to talk to. Even when there are only 10 players on I always wind up running into someone. So to conclude I would always say that even though the help files are extensive and there to use...

Leatherworking VS armoursmithing
Hi, HELP LEATHERWORKING and HELP ARMOURSMITHING both contain the following paragraph: * Valid <armourtypes> include: Light: Padded, Leather, 'Studded Leather', 'Light Chain' Medium: Hide, 'Scale Mail', 'Ring Mail', 'Heavy Mail', Brigandine Heavy: 'Splint Mail', 'Banded Mail', 'Half Plate', 'Full Pla...

Hey Viss! That's a good post, and I'd like to comment on a few of the points you raise: Birk, i agree with many of your points so far. At least to an extent. I think education is the answer more than new areas etc. Here are my thoughts on a few of the points. Agreed. I want to point out that what I ...

Re: Making "Time stop" more game friendly
I'm using mudlet. The alias would look something like this: Alias: Timestop ^ts (\w+) (\w+)(?: (\w+))?(?: (\w+))?$ local replace = { ss = "stoneskin", qp = "quaff", sh = "shield" } if matches[5] then echo("cast \"timestop\" '" .. replace[matches[2]] ...

Re: Making "Time stop" more game friendly
I don't see this working out in practice. You'd have to be an amazingly fast and accurate typer or set up aliases for all the conceivable scenarios you'd want to use this spell, which limits its effectiveness. Not to mention it'd certainly be nontrivial to implement. Timestop is gimped enough as it...

Re: The newbie experience
[I kind of find the feeling of imminent death to be an enjoyable part of the game though. I do too! I'm the sort of player who play games on ironman mode just for the kick of knowing that a surprise death may ruin hours of careful work. So this is not really a key part of my critique. The key bit i...

What client are you running? Aliases are usually easier to handle clientside.

The newbie experience
After toying around with FK for a week now, I'm going to use this thread to sum up a few of my experiences with the game so far! Let's start with the good: 1. People The people I've met and talked to have generally been great. Players take time for interaction when you run into them, and are helpful...

Re: Ability to swap default fighter feats for dex/dw feats
Well, I haven't tested this myself, but according to HELP FIGHTER BONUS FEATS, the bonus feats can't actually be used for 2WF feats. So that leaves dual wielders with their normal pool of feats to purchase them, which is going to limit severely the number of non-combat feats the character can take i...

Re: Ability to swap default fighter feats for dex/dw feats
But fighters are swimming in feats, so that's really not the problem here. The fact is that combat-wise, a dex-based fighter can easily get all the 2WF feats and still have room for greater weapon focus/specialisation, improved critical and so on. Giving the different guilds some flavour in their fi...

Re: Ability to swap default fighter feats for dex/dw feats
How about just adding the two-weapon fighting feats to the list of fighter bonus feats? That's how it works in 3.5 and would give you the option of building like that if you want, at the expense of other feats. I don't think giving the option of foregoing heavy armour feats for 2WF because it's an u...

Re: Feat: Luck of Heroes
The more I think about it, the more I wonder why language restrictions aren't simply eased up a little across the board. Giving all races 1 slot at int 8, 2 slots at int 10, 3 slots at int 12 and so on, would give a lot more freedom especially in the early stages of play. This would open up more opt...

Re: Feat: Luck of Heroes
I was just going by lore. Green Elves are feral recluses that dwell in close-knit tribes that rarely leave the confines of their forests, so the chance of them all knowing common doesn't seem likely. I see them as the elvish version of an orc. From Elves of Faerun: Wood Elves speak Elven. Those who...
