I propose that you cannot give quest items to the mobs who are not suppose to receive them. This being a mudd sometimes instructions can be kind of confusing, and the penalty of failing a quest or forward a quest line is to harsh for such a simple mistake. Its happened to me twice already, once was ...

As everyone else said, you're only going to enjoy it if you want to. Relying on other people to make the game fun is not going to work out.
