Re: Zombie Fair
I didn't even know this event was going on until I showed up, but it was a great time. Thanks for putting it together!

Re: Water Features
Do builders have access to sector modifications on our codebase? This is probably something best applied to all (fresh) water tiles... There's a lot of watery rooms scattered about. I'm responding via phone, and can't easily access the lessons, but would something like this work? (Excuse formatting ...

Re: Water Features
Might be worth it to just do an intercept prog with a custom echo and mpmadd the thirst value. Bypasses the worry over 'something's.

You might be my new favorite person... I've never had anyone know what the hell I was talking about, with regards to "Amber."

Re: if wear_loc($o)
Failing that, it might actually be easier to simply have a wear prog to change objval5 to 1, then check for that value in what you're doing. Likewise, removal would set the value back to 0.

Re: Fighter builds
Garumsh went with an absurd 18 int. Was before the teaching feats were brought and, and I was trying to get everything GM'd to facilitate some orcish war training... charisma/wisdom requirement put a stop to that, but I'm sure it made a considerable difference in the time required to train up the sk...

Re: Fighter builds
Defensive/tanky builds are doable. I haven't seen/heard of a truly successful light-armored fighter since way back, before dodge was changed to its current iteration. Traditionally, the most successful fighters have been the ones that just dish out ungodly amounts of damage, and rock the heavy armor...

Re: Training
Luckily, the majority of fighter's skills are passive. And, unless it's been changed, increase rates are much higher than they used to be. When I went on my quest to GM everything with Garumsh, the final tally was ~800 hours. Since then, I'm pretty sure dual wield, at the least, has been sped up.

Re: Training
I'd have to do some digging, but I feel like, in ages past, it was mentioned that base intelligence was the determinant, not temporary values such as those granted by spells. Someone please correct me if I'm misremembering.

Re: Training
It's my understanding that you gain skill 'exp' for both successes and failures. Failures just give a significantly lower number of points. Passive skills (weapons, dodge, parry, dual wield) tend to improve quite a bit faster, because as long as their parameters are met (two weapons wielded for dual...

Re: Favorite Books
I LOVE Robin Hobb, Mask actually sent me a few of those on Kindle otherwise I'd probably never have picked it up. I like Raymond E. Feist but I find him a bit wordy so I have to stick with it a bit. I have never read a single Forgotten Realms book, so as someone who hasn't, there are a lot of ways ...

Re: Favorite Books
Sci-Fi: Anything Asimov, Dune series, Peter F. Hamilton (Reality Dysfunction) Fantasy: Brandon Sanderson's stuff is fantastic. Recommend anything by him, but the Stormlight Archive books specifically. Recently finished Robin Hobb's trilogies, also fantastic. Glen Cook's Black Company books are great...

Re: Changes to the posted laws of Waterdeep
Oh, well, then yeah, right on. When I get the energy, i'm going to see how possible it is to take on an entire city and leave dead guards everywhere Happened when I was exploring as Garumsh, back in the day. Unintentionally wandered into a place I shouldn't have been, guards auto-attacked... by the...

Re: Howling Peak Underdark Entrance
I'm not familiar with the room in question, but if the warning is only issued once you've already entered the area maybe it would be a good idea to make that first room flagged no_mob? Unless I'm misunderstanding, seems like warning $n after they've already started getting mobbed is a bit too late.

Re: Text additions and requests for blind and other players
Just wanted to hop on and say that I am still working on the things I discussed a few months ago. This semester got way crazier than I (foolishly) expected, and I've lacked time to work on anything but school-related work.

Re: Latest Toril Technology
I'm not really for or against it. The way I had envisioned creating them, modeled after Harroghty's mention of all of the limitations of their early design, would have made them highly prone to failure/malfunction/explosion. Handled properly, I think they'd be a 'that's neat' item more than a 'merc ...

Re: Latest Toril Technology
Sorry for double-post, phone won't let me edit properly. Firearms have been brought up in the past (see the link below). Prog-simulation of the issues Harroghty raised is doable, and I'm still willing to assist in their design if someone wants/gets permission to try and make an area to introduce the...

Re: Latest Toril Technology
I would expect ballistae are in use. With the general lack of gunpowder, cannons would be unlikely.
