Empty potion containers
Is there any way to tell a random quest reward potion container is empty, short of quaffing it?

Appraising it will show a value of 1 copper.

Re: Empty potion containers
Ah...that works, if one can appraise it! But even a doltish warrior should be able to tell it's empty. I've taken to bringing them to someone that buys potions and getting a VALUE offer to determine it, but I'm suggesting adding something to the potion object soft code that makes the game say "The *blah* is empty" when you look at or examine it.
Re: Empty potion containers
I will test a solution (later) today.

Re: Empty potion containers
There is a solution on the game port now. When you examine a potion bottle that is empty you will see this message "This vessel appears to be empty". Full bottles will have no additional messages.
Please let me know how this works out.

Very nice! Works like a top, thanks so much!
Re: Empty potion containers
Help said I should bring this to your attention.
ask This small bottle is made of beautiful blue glass and has an
ask oche colored stopper.
ask It can be picked up, held.
ask It cannot be worn with any other armour.
ask It is small in size and would fit any body type.
ask It is made of glass and weighs next to nothing.
ask .OOC: To use this just hold it and quaff it.
ask .e.g. hold potion and quaff potion
ask .(You can abbreviate the quaff command.)
ask You hold a blue glass bottle in your left hand.
ask quaff blue
ask You try to quaff a blue glass bottle, but find it empty!

Re: Empty potion containers
Right... that would mean.. it's empty. <.< As in already been used.
Re: Empty potion containers
The point being the examine didn't show that. And I could have potentially wasted a valuable potion if it had been full....
Re: Empty potion containers
What Kielar means is, exam of this potion doesn't return the message "This vessel appears to be empty" which has been applied to most other potions.
Harroghty, this is the cure crit potion provided in the Waterdeep newbie area.

Re: Empty potion containers
Also, on a nit picking note, the empty bottle still answers to cure. It could be hazardous to your health if your in a fight and don't see your trying to quaff an empty bottle in all the default red battle spam.
You weave out of the way of a X's punch. I mean is it really necessary to make that red? Save red for something less common or important like you get punched in the nose.

Re: Empty potion containers
You can change the color of combat text by choosing item 5 on the game's main menu (5. Change the default account colour scheme).
The bottles will be changed momentarily so that they will change descriptions and keywords when they are empty, but you must examine them in order to effect this change. I do not believe that there is a really good, clean way to effect the change when you quaff it without adding further obstacles to quaffing other potions you might have in your inventory.

Thank you for the combat text tip.
