Height/weight generation seems to be broken

Post by Trillarel » Mon Sep 10, 2012 5:46 pm

My newest alt is a drow. Options chosen at char creation were A) Short and A) Light.

Char height/weight help says the averages are:
Race Height in inches Weight in pounds
----------------------------------------------
Drow 55/50 90/70

What the score sheet says:

Height: 4ft 6in Weight: 105lbs

I don't know my feet, but the weight is waay off the scale (at the heavy and and Vic was supposed to be light!)

Also, a nitpick: female/male values for the drow should be inverted, as the female drow are repeatedly stated to be bigger and heavier than the males.

105 pounds (about 48 kg) is extremely light, especially for an active person. A heavyweight boxer is over 200 pounds (90 + kg).

In terms of adjusting height and weight based upon sex... it's really more trouble than it is worth right now. I am in the process of overhauling the character generation file to be informative, current, and correct. That kind of little stuff can wait a little while, but remember that your PC's height and weight are up to you; what they actually weigh is between you and the score sheet, and no one else can see that.

Halfling height range is now 32-48 inches (as of some changes the other day).

If it is... why does the helpfile list different averages for males and females?

So that you can make decisions about your roleplay. As I said before, the height and weight is, within reason, yours to describe; no one actually sees your score sheet and the values there do not have any mechanical effect.

Shield Dwarf Height Variables

Post by Kayne » Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:04 pm

I created a shield dwarf the other day and when it came to the height selection I chose short and was given 4'11" thinking that it was odd I restarted and selected average and it came back 5'11" restart creation yet again and selecting short it came back as 4'7". Copying my score to show what choices I made while creating the dwarf. Kind of looked at other dwarf including gold dwarf and the height variables came up as much higher than what their help files for each race denote as an average height. Weights seem to be the correct variables.
