Bickering

Post by Atraos » Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:29 pm

Hey folks

Not a huge player or one of great reknown or a huge knowledge in the game but I wanted to make a point.

There was a drive and I presume there still is to get more votes on MUD Connector so as to increase our player base. Now the majority of potential new players would probably come and have a look at the website and forums first, see what the game is all about. If they read any recent posts all they are going to see is bickering. What is with all the arguing at present??

I think we seem to be moving away from the fact that this is a game, a fun place. Everyone needs to calm down a little I think. We all have opinions and thoughts about how things should be done, ultimately it's the choice of the higher powers. We can suggest and recommend but that is it. If we dont agree with a suggestion I am sure a response can be worded pleasantly enough suggesting reasons why not. If you can't dont post a reply...Simples!!!

For a new player coming on and perhaps making a suggestion without realising they are missing something through inexperience who then gets absolutely hammered from everyone it's going to kind of point them off posting again or even playing anymore.

I just think everyone needs to calm down a little and perhaps post things a little more diplomatically.

Just my thoughts, feel free to hammer away now:)

Well said, Atraos. Thank you.

In all fairness, the bickering you pointed out could be compared to a sneeze on other forums I've viewed.

The easiest way to combat bickering is to block the posts of the bickerer in question through forum commands and ignore their negative contributions to the mud. That's what I've been doing mostly.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)
