Baldur's Gate

Post by Harroghty » Thu Dec 13, 2012 2:08 am

WoTC and Hasbro turned this out just in time for the holidays.

Ah I got this the day it came out. Though my friend was pretty awful at it, and got herself killed more than once.

I have heard mixed reviews. How is it?

It's decent. I haven't seen a large change where I am yet in gameplay. And unfortunately, multiplayer is fun, but if you don't play with the right people, it can get annoying.

If you ever played the NWN2 vanilla campaign with someone else, it's just like that. When someone talks to someone else, everyone stops and waits for that person to talk to them and you can't do anything while they talk.

They did set up permissions to help with it, but still.

Overall, still a great game, and the multiplayer is great. The only major complaint is I feel like they still rushed it a little, there's still parts of the enhanced menu that just don't work or are odd.

I heard that it was buggy.

The version on the iPad is still pretty buggy, but it's early in development. I feel I've more than gotten my $10 worth from it already. Playing on iPad is interesting (I'd still prefer PC) but since I'm on the go a lot, it's pretty awesome.

Is it cross-platform between PC and Mac? I have a Mac and am considering getting it to play with my son on his PC.

The website states:
Improved multiplayer support, with connectivity between all platforms
I'm not sure if the multiplayer is cross-platform yet.

I have not tested multi-platform yet, but I would assume it works as as such, the multiplayer does have bugs though.

@Harroghty: Yes, there are some bugs, especially in multiplayer. I had a nasty habit of my lobbies messing up, to the point where I could not even make a character. Then there were some where people would persist in lobbies I made but closed, or would even re-enter those closed lobbies. Not the worst bugs ever, more annoying. Just hoping a big patch will fix that.
