Guards aiding beetles in Menzoberranzan

Post by Nimboro » Tue Aug 21, 2012 3:21 pm

I was wandering the streets of Menzoberranzan on my Drow, and ran across an aggressive beetle running around. The beetle attacked on sight and the melee magthere students jumped to the aid of the beetles, as did the war-lizards. This happened with a few different beetles in the streets and the npc's, even a vendor on one occasion, jumped to the aid of the beetle instead of the pc.

Solaghar: Would you please look into this and make a recommendation? Usually this is an alignment issue (i.e. the NPCs will aid the closer alignment, PC or NPC) created by the fact that simple mobiles all have the same alignment (0).

Just wanted to post an update: I've confirmed this with one other Drow, it's ANY hostile that gets into Menzoberranzan and attacks the player, not just the beetles. Some bugbear scouts wound up in there and attacked another drow and I, it dragged the Melee Magthere students into it against us. Personally leaning torwads Harroghty's suggestion of the alignment issue.

There is an easier solution here than trying to go back and adjust the alignment of every Menzo mobile: I can just keep the hostile mobiles out of the city. So, because I am not familiar with Menzo intimately, I would like some help. Who gets in? From where?

In the underbelly of the city, in the north slavers cavern, there is an iron gate. To open it from the inside, you need to say "Open the gate" and the guard will open it. From the out side, you "strike" to open it, using a small striker on the door. Using the striker method, the door does not close behind you and allows for critters to enter the city.

Okay. I added EX_NOMOB flags to (14500) Slavers gate, (14501) Slavers cavern north, (14537) Outside the dump, (14539) In the dump, (23363) Dark Dominion - Eastways, and (3188) The Braeryn.

This should clean up the traffic a little bit.
