Dispel Magic

I was dispelling some effects off myself and found that I get the echo of a spell fading but when I checked the spell was still in effect. For example 'The effect of the prayer fades away.' echos when Prayer is dispelled but then when I checked my affects Prayer still shows and after a short time seems to fade naturally.

The effect of the prayer fades away.

Looking at my score sheet it looks like the prayer is still effecting my hit and damage but not my saving throws... so it is half dispelled?
