Word of Recall

Post by Althasizor » Sun Feb 17, 2013 11:44 pm

After it was pointed out to me in-character, I looked back and realised something strange with the word of recall prayer. Whenever I cast it, it transports me twice. So what ends up happening is:
You begin to chant.
An earthstone glows briefly.
The Market Square
N-Traders Way E-The Market S-The Market W-The Market
Bustling with activity, the market square teems with both stall holders and
shoppers. All manner of goods can be bought here, from fruits to fabrics. The
scent of herbs and spices fills the air, which is punctuated from time to time
with the cry of a hawker. To the west the spires of the Font of Knowledge can
be seen stretching towards the sky. A beautiful mermaid fountain takes pride
of place in the centre, around which people often seem to congregate.
The sky is sultry and a warm southerly breeze blows.
A prominent brass signpost planted here bears upon it the laws of the city. (superb)
A mermaid fountain makes soothing watery noises here. (perfect)
A guard is here wandering the market keeping the peace.
(Pale Blue Aura) Gwain is standing here.
Yasu is standing here.
A diminutive, sable-haired female halfelf is standing here.
A lanky, violet-skinned male air genasi is standing here.
Protective wards have caused you to unexpectedly arrive somewhere else.
Selune's Smile Tavern
N-Fishgut Court U-Above Selune's
This place smells of stale ale, and good cooking. Sturdy wooden tables with
sturdy chairs litter the place. Despite the grimy look of the place, one can
find a good meal and a good ale here. On the back wall is a grimy mural
depicting the goddess Selune.
An innkeeper stands behind the bar here.
Where it sent me to the market first, and then warped me to the inn where I stayed. So those in the market saw me appear and then disappear immediately. I tried it again and it happens even if the wards have caused you to arrive elsewhere:
You begin to chant.
An earthstone glows briefly.
Protective wards have caused you to unexpectedly arrive somewhere else.
House of Purple Silks Festhall
E-Street of Whisp U-Above the House
This place smells of stale ale, and good cooking. Sturdy wooden tables with
sturdy chairs litter the place. Despite the grimy look of the place, one can
find a good meal and a good ale here.
An innkeeper stands behind the bar here.
Protective wards have caused you to unexpectedly arrive somewhere else.
Twilight Hunters Tavern
W-Saerdoun Street U-Above the Twili
This place smells of stale ale, and good cooking. Sturdy wooden tables with
sturdy chairs litter the place. Despite the grimy look of the place, one can
find a good meal and a good ale here.
An innkeeper stands behind the bar here.
Can be replicated on gameport and testport, though this probably isn't a huge priority.
What are you talking about? What, that guy?
That was like that when I got here.

Easiest solution would be to do away with the protective wards. They were put in place years ago back when everyone would congregate to the market square, and people would pop in over and over. Its not like that anymore, populations are more diverse and the market is usually empty.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

I'm not sure it actually has to do with protective wards though. It seems like the prayer is just repeating the recall affect once, and if that's it removing the wards would at best have people appearing, disappearing, reappearing in MS when cast.

Is this seen on all PCs, or just a subset, say those with Waterdeep as a hometown?

I've seen this on my priest from Waterdeep, but nothing like it when recalling to other towns.

I know of no area code wards on Waterdeep that might cause this.

I'm not sure what is going on here, since in my second test it actually bumped me TO the Market Square:
You begin to chant.
The Broken Lance Tavern
E-Glossy painted door W-Glossy painted door
Murky leaden glass panes permit some natural light to filter
into this dimly lit taproom when Lathander agrees to put the
sun in the heavens out of doors. Still, they wear the stains
of years of pipe smoke and are few enough to only cast scant
illumination on a truly well appointed scene. Black leather
is the order for all the seats and polished hardwood gleams,
dully, when it can. Frosted glass sconces host ersatz flames
of magical energy that cast flickering shadows across a wide
polished floor.
A grizzled bartender with thick eyebrows is here.
You begin to chant.
Protective wards have caused you to unexpectedly arrive somewhere else.
Sated Satyr Inn

This place smells of stale ale, and good cooking. Sturdy wooden tables with
sturdy chairs litter the place. Despite the grimy look of the place, one can
find a good meal and a good ale here.
An innkeeper stands behind the bar here.
A soldier of the Wyvern Company patrols here.

I think this would require a look at the 'word of recall' hard code in order to figure out.
