Animate dead producing the wrong race?

Post by Nylo » Mon Feb 18, 2013 3:03 am

Upon attacking "the animated corpse of a centaur":
You strike a glancing blow off The animated corpse of a centaur!
With a sickening sound your slash shreds The animated corpse of a centaur's abdomen.
The animated corpse of a centaur is slightly scratched.
You strike a glancing blow off The animated corpse of a centaur!
Your slash lacerates The animated corpse of a centaur's left leg.
The animated corpse of a centaur has a few small cuts.

From everything I've seen, this spell normally produces zombies, which have DR 5/slashing. This one was still reducing my damage. The helpfile also mentions skeletons, but this one left a corpse, which rules that out. So I'm wondering if this is an intentional change to the spell, or just a random bug?

Animate dead did have a good deal of work done to it, which I've not yet had time to test.

It looks like animated dead now retain more of their original characteristics, and have a general damage reduction of 5 with a susceptibility to cold. That's not cannon, but I can only imagine it is by design.

That's all I know at present.
