I have to ask then...

How much build up work do you do for a project? Like prewriting descriptions, quests, mobs, and that sort of thing? Do you write a story for the area(s) that fleshes them out a little?

Or do you jump right in and start building?

That depends. The comic does a great job with that bit about sitting at your desk with six hours to write ...and just nothing happening. There are times when I knock out huge portions of an area in a day, and there are times when I sit there fiddling back and forth with one little facet for months. It's all when the inspiration flows.

Practically, an area will take a couple of months usually (unless you are Solaghar, who follows his own special laws of speed and progress).

Take that six hours and make it six years, for me. I can spit ideas all day long but when it's actually time to flesh them out.. I lack discipline.
