According to the help file for restoration:

This spell dispels negative levels, restoring one experience level each time
it is cast upon a creature that has had a level drained. The drained level
is restored only if the time since the creature lost the level is equal to or
less than one day per caster skill level.

The spell also removes the effects of fatigue, poison, and weakness.

* Multiple castings of this spell are often required in order to restore
all possible lost experience points

I have noticed that this spell does not remove "raise dead" affects, which I had assumed would be the "fatigue" mentioned in the helpfile. But, I also notice it does not cure poison either.

Might be the case of old 'cure poison' types; they didn't remove the new poisons, just the old base one from the spell.

Yup, that's the issue - restoration strips poison, the spell, which some old beasties use to poison you, but new beasties have their own poisons and new code is required to strip them all. I think I have managed to make that fix (to the Heal spell as well, which had the same problem) and the update should be copied over to the game port with the next area update.

I've always understood that Restoration should not strip death fatigue, but that would be easy to code in too, if appropriate. Should it? (It's not something cannon, so we need to make our own call on it.) I tend to think not...but in that case the helpfile should make that limitation clear: the helpfile certainly currently suggests the spell tackles all forms of weakness.

I'm of the mind to say that as long as restoration remains a PC-only available spell, then it should strip death fatigue. The player/character are already "punished" (for lack of a better word at this early hour) by level/XP loss - restoration will not restore it all and at higher levels even a little bit can require a lot of work to recoup. The restoration spell being PC only makes it a little harder to come by, appropriate then for the situation. I think it would be a nice addition appropriate to the spell's design, personally.
