Re: More helpfile errors
I recently noticed 'Spider Swarm' on my spell list. Could we get a help file on it? I can't even find a d20 equivalent, so I'm very interested.

Here ye go man: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/swarm.htm
Summon Monster I and Iron Guts also need helpfiles. I think there might be a few other new spells that need them as well.

Re: More helpfile errors
I can't see into the guts of the new quaff mechanics. They are definitely new - you can have the potion smashed out of your hands if things go very wrong, and that didn't used to be the case. But whether there is a check in there against concentration or something else, I can't say. I think, short of shaky indirect testing, only Mask can answer that one.Anguin wrote:Oh. One of the old posts said it takes a Concentration check. Er... why do fighters get Concentration, then?
edit to add the post that confused me:

Re: More helpfile errors
I'm very reluctant to put in (visible) helpfiles for spells until they are fully operational and have at least one trainer in-game. I don't believe that holds for any of these spells (yet).Rhangalas wrote:Here ye go man: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/swarm.htm

Re: More helpfile errors
I'd like to suggest adding something to the Intelligence helpfile (or Skills, or both) to indicate that a character's intelligence has an effect on how quickly their skill levels increase.

- Any skill or trade having Int as one of its prime attributes
It is already listed there.

That affects how often you succeed with those skills, sure.Orplar wrote:- Any skill or trade having Int as one of its prime attributes

But (as I understand it) int also affects all skills, not just those having Int as a prime attribute, in that if you have a higher Int, your skill level increases more rapidly as you use the skill.

Ah, I see and understand what your getting at now. That is the case as I understand it as well. The same could be said with luck. It affects everything you do, Im just not sure to what extent.

Re: More helpfile errors
The INT suggestion is a fine one indeed; I've added that. LCK is intentionally vague, and I'm sorry, but it will stay that way! Thank you for the suggestions!

Re: More helpfile errors
Cure Minor
Conjuration (Healing)
Range: Touch
Target: Defensive
Syntax: cast 'cure light' <target>
When laying your hand upon a living creature, you channel positive
energy that cures damage.
Since undead are powered by negative energy, this spell deals damage
to them instead of curing their wounds. An undead creature can attempt
a save to take half damage.
Cure Minor is the weakest of the cure spells.

Re: More helpfile errors
Thanks, fixed!
Re: More helpfile errors
I suspect it is the same case for other curative spells, but "cure serious" is listed as a level 3 cleric spell. Unfortunately, if you are an unfaithed cleric, it is reflected as a level 4 cleric spell. It shows up properly on an unfaithed cleric's spell list (level 4), but the helpfile just needs to be amended.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: More helpfile errors
Anyone know if this is a bug or a helpfile error? This is how the spell levels currently stand:Aldren wrote:I suspect it is the same case for other curative spells, but "cure serious" is listed as a level 3 cleric spell. Cure minor = Level 0 for both unfaithed priests and for clerics
Cure light = Level 1 for both unfaithed priests and for clerics
Cure moderate = Level 3 for unfaithed priests but level 2 for clerics
Cure serious = Level 4 for unfaithed priests but level 3 for clerics
Cure critical = Level 5 for unfaithed priests but level 4 for clerics
Raise dead = Level 5 for both unfaithed priests and for clerics
I could see this being intentional, but then again it may be the case that the generic priest class was just missed during the level changes made when level 0 spells were added. Anyone know for certain?
Re: More helpfile errors
I believe that it is because a priest can branch into a cleric or a druid, for spells shared among the two different guilds, the basic priest gets it in the latest possible spell level of them two.

Ah, that makes sense and seems to hold up upon inspection...thanks!Morlath wrote:I believe that it is because a priest can branch into a cleric or a druid, for spells shared among the two different guilds, the basic priest gets it in the latest possible spell level of them two.
I added to the Priest helpfile an explanation that
I appreciate the help!If such spells are available to both clerics and druids, unguilded priests cast them at the highest level at which they are cast by either clerics or druids.
