Two faith bugs: Callarduran and Lloth

Post by Nimboro » Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:03 pm

The first one, relates to Callarduran Smoothands, patron of the Deep Gnomes. At one point, Callarduran was a renamed Gond faith, until it was fully set in stone as his own diety. Gondar preists (I have one as well) get the 'pick lock' skill. Right now, on my Deep Gnome's skill list (also a priest), I also have this skill. Callarduran is a patron of mining and gems, so I thought this could potentially be a skill that I should not have?

Second: Unable to i(e?)nquire about the faith of Lloth. I play a Male Drow Wizard, of House Baenre. I went to the temple to i(e?)nquire about the faith, the echo I recieved when typing was "This is not a valid diety". I also had the FM for Lloth before me to try and help, I was still unable to i(e?)nquire or anything about the faith, still returning the same message of "This is not a valid diety". I have yet to try again since the first incident, I'm sure she'd be willing to give her input as well to show it was not working. We tried every which way to spell Lloth.

First, it is on the guild's skill list. I think that it's probably okay for now.

Secondly, try lolth. That should work.

Is that a typo we should fix in the code, or should I put some mention of that in the Lloth helpfile?

It's mentioned in the helpfile, but not prominently. Lolth is the correct, original spelling and so we really should use that one primarily in the help file.

1988: Bob Salvatore (mis)spells her 'Lloth' in The Crystal Shard; it sticks in his books

~2002: Wizards of the Coast largely removes the variant as part of the effort to simplify spelling
