Hello old friends (and hopefully new friends!) - I am returning to FK after having been away since 2007. I've forgotten a fair amount about my characters, and while I feel I can rebuild their personalities, I'm struggling with some other things like where I left my horse (and, has it been so long the poor thing is dead??).
Has anyone else had a similar experience such that they have tips and tricks to share?

Haha, welcome back! Just try to remember the core of your character. Having been gone for 6 years, it's likely almost everyone will be new here, so any change in your character's personality could easily be explained by some of the stuff that happened in your absence. If I were you I'd start off in Waterdeep like any newbie and learn everything from the beginning again, as there have been a lot of big changes to combat, skills, spells... just pretend you're a newbie and try to learn everything from the start, and be thankful you're not learning with a level 1 character!

Re: Return after a Long Break
Your pets and carts save with your characters and should remain where they were when you left us. (Well, save that when you DO log a PC, pets and carts will be where they were, and if that is not a safe place, they might get eaten/stolen/pranked/what have you.) If you need help finding them, you can try for IC help, but more likely OOC help will be required. The way to seek that is an ASK that concisely states the issue: "I'm coming back after a 6-year hiatus and would really like help finding my pet! Can anyone help?" If an Imm is on and available and can help, they'll respond to that, otherwise try again another time.
Delighted to see you back! You'll find that a great deal has changed, but the heart of the game remains the same.

Yeah, same here. I just returned from a 2-3 year break myself. I'm doing what Solaghar suggested, I just took the character I remembered the most about and started playing them as a new character.

I don't really have any insight here, except to say that I'm also coming back after (another) long break from the game and, yea, it can be pretty tricky starting again with an old character. So much stuff to remember! Running into old acquaintes can get a little awkward when you can't remember a thing about them, and qlog is pretty... daunting. I decided to just start again from scratch as a newb, with the added benefit that I'd accumulated enough kismet that I could do something a bit more interesting at chargen. Like a newbie plus! Still, it's not easy being green again.
