Midwinter Feat Training Event

Post by Harroghty » Wed Nov 27, 2013 12:26 am

There will soon be a trainer for every feat available for a brief time to a select audience. The audience will purchase admission to the trainer with a pro-rated platinum cost (i.e. higher level player characters will pay more than lower level ones) and paying customers will be able to train only ONE feat. There will also be a social aspect to this trainer in the form of some rooms in which patrons (or prospective patrons) can socialize; this will be in a common area for which the entrance fee is not required.
What: Universal Feat Trainer/Midwinter Fair
Who: PCs who pay for admission
Where: Three access locations announced that day
When: Saturday 14 December - all day with certain sub-events at random throughout the day
Why: To address the challenges of finding feats
Features offered:
  • universal feat trainer
  • magical object resizing
  • RMI exchange (you turn one in and get a random object with the same enchanments, etc. back)

I'm fine with any Saturday, but how about the 14th of December for the suggested day? It's just before the crazy time of travel for the Holidays.

I'm good to go for the 14th as well.

Any date works for me as I am enjoying a early winter layoff until after Christmas but I do have a question pertaining to this event.

Will hometown related feats be made available to characters who did not have the option to train them before certain level restrictions (because they had no trainers when they were implemented) be made available regardless of level?

The trainer(s) will be able to train every feat, but the normal rules for those individual feats will apply.

Will it be viable for multiple characters to learn one feat each, or is the intention to be one character can gain one feat?

The 14th sounds good.

Is this event just for surface goers or are Drow invited as well? I guess it all depends on the location.

Being that it's a 'select audience' at the Midwinter Fair, I imagine that no monster races will be permitted. Drow are actually pretty well supplied as feats go - if I remember correctly, the only major feats missing at this point are a few thief feats. Maybe there will be a separate trainer at some point in the future for our monster races.

The audience is select because of the cost. It should be fairly open, and I will do my best to make this a feasible IC option.

14th works for me if it's early-ish... not just an evening thing. It's date-day for me and the missus she wants to see a few movies.. It'd cost me a limb to skip out on her. Hope to see everyone there!

I could do the 14th as well, as long as it is early afternoon or before.

Any chance we can get some idea of the costs for this event? Not every player hoards coins and some may need to go out and earn a few to be able to be included in this event.

Sure. Apologies on some delays here, but work has been pretty involved this week. Entrance fees are shown below as they will be rated according to PC levels.
  • 1-10 - 10 platinum
  • 11-20 - 20 platinum
  • 21-30 - 30 platinum
  • 31-40 - 40 platinum
  • 41-50 - 50 platinum
(remember that it costs money train the feat also!)

Though I have no feats left to spend, I like everything else offered. Very nice. :D

This will be up in about six hours from this post.

Resizing and feat training are automated. Exchanges will be done live a few times during the day.

There will be portals from every single hometown.

Please please please read the feat help files before hand and make sure that you are typing the correct command, have the right gear, etc. because the feat training has very little margin for error. I could maybe have made it more forgiving by making it totally automated, but I just really don't have the time for that right now. I apologize.

This area is live right now and will remain so for roughly 24 hours.

Thank you so much for this event!

I really like the zone itself, it's simple, but pretty elegant. It's also allowed for some cool trading and Rping that I would not normally have had the chance to do, I think.
