I know that Cyric, Shar, Malar, and Mask (This one I really don't get!) all can have Lawful Evil followers. I just don't understand what motivation a Lawful character would have to join a faith with such strong chaotic tendancies.
Cyric:
Cyric is the god of murder, strife, lies, intrigue, deception and illusion.
He blesses the deceitful and the underhanded, favouring those who steal and
who backstab their foes, while damning those who aid others or respect the
dead.
Shar
MalarHer heart longs for a return to the calm of nonexistence, and
she schemes from the shadows to tear down establishments, destroy order,
and undermine all creation.
I can kind of see this one. Though he's the only fury that accepts LE, I guess this would be sort of an anti-ranger. The thrill seeking big game hunter, sort of character?
Mask
So, how do you justify a Lawful Evil character choosing to follow a Chaotic Evil or Chaotic Neutral god? I tend to build my characters under the assumption that they will find their way to a god of their choice, and they aren't predestined from creation for a certain faith. I'm really interested in getting feedback on how other people view LE's following CE's, and the rationality of it.Mask is the god of thieves, thievery, and shadows. Followers of Mask are
glorified by him for their undercover actions. They are favoured when they
steal, filch and backstab, as well as when they sacrifice to their Lord.
