Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
I think it would be nice if there was someplace a bit easier to find that taught the weapon finesse feat. It shouldn't be too rare, not everyone is a muscle-bound brute. Nobles and swashbucklers and the like would be more likely to use their dex in dueling. I've got nearly 60 hours on my rogue and still haven't found a place to learn it. It's very hard to level when you have no strength bonus.
Re: Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
I cannot comment on the rarity or commoness of this feat as I'm unsure how many trainers there are..
However, a great opportunity to ask around IC and/or write an IC post on the note boards requesting a teacher or direction towards it, if you haven't tried that route already.

I've asked every inhabitant of Faerun...nobody knows. :p
Re: Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
I know where it is and almost anyone can get it. I won't give a hint on here, but it's out there and very easily obtained my friend.
Re: Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
Apparently "Easily obtained" is subjective because I've been looking everywhere and know others who have as well.

Despite checking with everyone, no one has asked me ic.draeg wrote:I've asked every inhabitant of Faerun...nobody knows. :p
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Well, obviously "everybody" was an exaggeration. Hopefully I'll make my way around to you in game.
Re: Weapon Finesse - the woes of playing a rogue
Regardless of whether or not the skill is in the game; I think the original poster's point should be considered rather than us more seasoned folk pointing out that the feat is in-game.
There are plenty of feats that should be more common, especially in starting areas, that simply are not.
If we want to leave them in remote areas to just train when the individual has the coin, that's fine. Why not have a small quest that gives them access should they want access to feats sooner? Why the false scarcity? In D&D you don't have to train the feat (unless your DM is just looking to kill time or has in some way incorporated it into the story line); you just choose it when you are high enough level to get it.
I understand that FK is just different. I'm not disputing that we can't just select a feat when it becomes available and we meet the prerequisites. I'm fine with that, too, but having to search everywhere for (as an example) a feat that's a basic fighter staple like Greater Weapon Focus seems silly to me.
*shrug* That's my opinion.

Feat scarcity will be remedied in large part by a new character creation option in the works.

Could you provide a little more detail?Harroghty wrote:Feat scarcity will be remedied in large part by a new character creation option in the works.
