Although I agree in principle with the idea of raising bank limits, I also have an idea that might be fun.
I think we should consider or discuss the idea of 'bank notes'. One could 'buy' a note, and like a newb spellbook, it would have your name and a value on it. It would be a normal paper item you could keep that no one else could trade in (your name) {Maybe with a high enough disguise or something...meh}. Say 100, 500, and 1000 platinum notes for 5%.
Discuss.

Re: Alternate idea to raising bank limit
Would the bank store them for you, or would you have to arrange storage on your own?

I would suggest storage on your own. Otherwise it would be no different than raising the bank limit.

Re: Alternate idea to raising bank limit
I am all for raising the bank limit, I dont' want to have to store bank notes. The notes are just one more piece of paper that we have the opportunity to loose, I am currently sitting on a full bank account and three money pouches full of plat. along with a large amount of other items (Unfinished quest items, items from completed quests and items that have been purchased or traded, crafted etc.) that I am trying to keep track of. If the cost of Mounts and other items are going up then it is only fair to assume that the bank limit will be increased.

The existence of Trade Bars is canon. I think it would be "neat" to have them in game, but I'm questioning the whole point of having bank limits.
I suppose the obvious reason is to prevent a runaway economy? Well hasn't that already occurred?
The value of a coin is next to worthless, since very little can be purchased through merchants... as there is a valid desire to push for PC to PC RPing. I'm not well versed in the whole economy, but are there enough money sinks in the system?
One that could be created is allowing people to actually purchase arrowheads from merchants. =)
Oh, can you buy favour from the gods by donating (sacrificing) coin?

Re: Alternate idea to raising bank limit
How I've been storing my coin for the last while is quite fun. I have been successfully turning my surplus coin into targeted rmi purchases. I usually keep a sum of 100-200 platinum in the bank, the rest is funnelled into a collection of rmi's that resell or retail at 25-100 platinum depending on the type and quality. I have compulsion to buy rmi's that interest me and my characters ic, so at first I did not realize that I was itemising my coin, now there are issues with this:
1)Space is limited to storage, pets and carts
2)Area economies are fickle, an rmi can lose money rapidly depending on the local purchases and sales.
3) Tangible assets, coin actually does not exist physically until you withdraw it from the bank, its stored memory otherwise and easy to recover. Items are fickle and sometimes can be lost for either ic or ooc reasons.
Over the years I've suggested other plans for banks, economic and fanciful, but this one seems to work best for me.
Otherwise I'd just raise the bank account level to match the up prices in mounts. I'm not sure if there is an SRD reference to how much fr banks can take in at a time and hold, but if its not detrimental to hard and soft code it seems like the easiest solution to inflation.

Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.
