Research Expedition

Post by Liandria » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:53 pm

A small team of researchers has been forming to study some areas of Demonic activity. We may still need one or two people, depending on scheduling conflicts. If you've been invited you have received an in game mail on the topic from Liandria.

I'm putting up a thread here, as the initially planned date nears. I think we have a full crew now, despite needing to hash out some of the last minute details IC.

Proposed Time

EDIT: There is a second expedition being planned. For ease in finding the information I'm updating this post to reflect that, so those interested don't have to scroll through the posts looking for the new date.
Another expedition party is being organized. Anyone in the first expedition will get priority in attending the second. Lia will be reaching out to those characters IC'ly. Aiming for 5-8 players once again. I will be trying for a somewhat balanced spread of classes again.

Considering this for the date:
Proposed time

Last expedition members: Please reply here, drop me an IM on Aim, or a forum message letting me know your availability
New members: If we have free space, others are welcome to join in provided they meet the requirements below, and it is IC'ly feesible.

Requirements:
Upper Levels preferred (Level 40+)
Must not be faith enemies of Mystra.
Must be on good or neutral terms with all other expedition members and their faiths.

This may be a fairly long hunt once again.

So far this time is good for me so I will try not to get roped into any social events that evening. Count Lirith in!

I'm interested. How many hours will the event run?

I should be free to have Kinni tag along!

It will be a fairly long event. The exact length is hard to predict.

Our last one ran around 3-4 hours, as I recall. However about 45 minutes of that was organizing, a couple late players, and trying to find last minute replacements. It all depends on how quickly we can get organized and out of Waterdeep, and how much time the players have. It's always possible that other unexpected events can interfere with our event. If another group of adventurers falls in the field, or someone starts attacking innocent NPCs things can escalate rather quickly. These things may call all or part of our party away from the planned event, end it early, or prolong our departure. In a perfect world none of that would happen, but then where's the fun in that?

Ideally I'd like to get us out of the city this time in under 15 minutes, and run around 2 hours. We can go longer if people have time. That 45 minute delay did gain us 3 additional members, and a bunch of RP. So while unexpected it was not unpleasant, and I can't really say it was detrimental.

Good to see you two interested again, Lirith and Kinni. Roderick and Elenthis have also expressed some interest in joining again. That puts us in a good spot for mages, but leaves us lacking in clerics. As many heals as we were burning last time, we really need at least one more cleric.

Wenin, we'll need to get your character informed of the event, if you are still interested.

I am still interested. How do you purpose that we connect Wenin into the venture?

He is a master pathfinder, as I'm thinking this venture will require a lot of movement across Faerun.

Edit: Lylena just dropped me a note. We have a 2nd cleric, so we should be doing okay.

I am afraid I am not going to be able to make this on Saturday. A family event has come up that will keep me engaged until at least an hour past the proposed start time. I will try to jump online as soon as my requirements are done but if past examples of this kind of family thing are any indicator I may be lucky to make it back before the time window for this event closes (or really I will be lucky to just make it out alive!).

I hope everyone has a great time! It was a blast last time and I am sure it will be again.

My schedule opened up even more. I'm totally planning on attending and I even had a chance encounter with two characters discussing the expedition. =)

This event is scheduled for about three and a half hours from now. We will be looking for a fighter as well.

My internet connection seems to be stable (finally) so I should be able to make it. Unfortunately the mails never made it out, but we should be able to play around that.

Thank you to all who attended. We got a late start again, but it all went quite well, and had a few new names join in.

It appears we already have a new destination for our next expedition. Time and date to be announced.

It seems most people were 30 - 60 minutes late. Is the time too early? We could move future events back an hour or so if that would help.
